Nailing SEO for Landscapers could be the most lucrative action you ever take in your business…

If you hate travelling around and you want more landscaping jobs closer to home, Landscaper SEO is your answer…

If you ever have those slow periods throughout the year where the phone stops ringing…

Having your website set up and optimised for Landscaping keywords will completely eliminate any slow periods…

If you’re spending money on advertising, you can put that ad money back into your pocket…

Cause once you set this up, it runs on autopilot to continually bring you hot and ready local customers…

But as great as local SEO is, it can be really complex to set up…

There’s just so many moving parts and so many things you can mess up…

The truth is, you can ignore 90% of the seo ranking tricks that are out there and just focus on the essentials to get your landscape business ranking…

Ok, so let me show you how you can do this…

The No-Nonsense Way to make a Fortune with SEO for Landscapers…

SEO for landscapers can take a looooong time to work and get the quality calls you want…

In other words, you can do everything right but it’s gonna be a while before Google decides to show your website for those keywords that make you money…

It could be months…

Maybe even 6 months…

But don’t get all dis-heartened and give up on me now…

That’s for your competitors…

Besides, there’s one part of the local seo for landscapers that you can get working within around 2 to 4 weeks…

In a lot of cases, this is more effective than SEO listings…

And that is to rank on the Google Business Listings

Or you could call it the maps listings…

Either way, this is what it looks like…

The first step in SEO for Landscapers

In my business, the map listings have been more profitable than the seo listings…

And what you do to rank in the maps also helps to rank your landscaping company in the search listings too…

So that’s why the first step when doing SEO for Landscapers, is to dominate the Google Business Profile listings…

If you want to know how to set up your map listing, I’ve already put together a guide on How to Rank High on Google Maps

What you do for the maps, also feeds seo and what you do for seo, feeds the maps…

With that said, the most important thing you can do to rank your business on Google my Business has nothing to do with the online world…

The most important thing you need to get your landscaping business to the top of the Google My Business Listings is…

Get a physical location in the areas you want to rank in…

Yep, that’s the most important thing…

I’ve seen businesses rank in the top 3 that haven’t optimised their website or listing…

The only thing they have going for them is that they have a physical location in the service area…

Now this can be a home address or it can be a business address…

If you don’t live in the area or have someone in the area that you can use their address to verify your listing, then it could be a good move to look at renting a cheap office with its own mailing address…

If it costs you $200 a week but you are getting calls from landscaping clients who pay 30, 40 or 50 grand for your services, the $200 is a great investment…

It’s actually cheaper than running ads in most cases…

Just something to think about…

The next thing you need to dominate the maps and SEO for Landscapers is…

SEO Optimised Landscaping Service and Suburb pages…

The great thing about doing seo for your landscaping company is that it’s all local…

Even if you work all over the country, you’re still a local business…

Local seo is one of the easiest types of seo to rank for…

All you need is a service and a suburb…

On your map listing, you want to select the services that you offer…

It will be something like landscaping, deck building, garden design or whatever categories you see as being relevant to your landscaping business…

After you’ve done that, you want to select the suburbs or service areas that you service…

You can select up to 20…

Now here’s where your competitors fall short…

What you want to do now is create a page for each service you list and a page for each suburb you provide each service in…

It will look something like this…

Your Services…

A Retaining Walls page…

A Landscaping page…

A Garden design page…

Your Suburbs and Services…

A Landscaping Safety Beach page…

A Landscaping Dromana page…

A Garden Design Safety Beach page…

A Garden Design Dromana page…

A Retaining Walls Safety Beach page…

A Retaining Walls Dromana page…

Make sense??

It’s a lot of work to set up but once you get it all done and ranking, you can just sit back and get landscaping customers flowing in all day every day for free…

The thing is, you don’t have to do this all at once…

You start with one page and keep adding to it week after week…

Eventually you’ll have a tonne of ranking pages on Google and the calls will be on a steady flow…

I’m in a small beach town with mainly holiday homes and I get 10 plus calls a day…

And I don’t pay a cent…

I’m getting calls from pages on my website that I created 4 years ago…

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…

The next thing we need to do to get this to work is…

Give your Landscaping SEO a huge boost by Getting Listed on Relevant Citation Sites…

The one thing that can make this work all come crashing down around you is your N.A.P…

That is, Name, Address, Phone Number…

The idea is that you take your N.A.P and get it listed across a whole bunch of relevant directories that will show Google that you’re a legit business…

The thing is, your N.A.P has to be exactly the same on every website you list it on as it is on your Map listing and your website…

Somewhere on your website, usually on the footer, you need your N.A.P…

It’ll look like this…

Now it’s critical that this N.A.P on your website is exactly the same as you listed on your maps listing…

And then when you list it in the directories, your details need to match your Google Business listing…

If you put in a different business name then Google can’t link it back to your maps listing…

Remember they want you to prove that you’re a real landscaping business, and links or citations from other sites is the proof you need…

So make sure you get your N.A.P right when you list it on citation sites…

Here’s a list of the top citation sites that you need to be listed on…

The Best Citation Sites…

Go forth and list away…

Get your business on all of these citation sites…

Now we’re really starting to get the rank juices going but there’s a couple of other things that can really power up your Google Business rankings…

The next 2 are really powerful for pushing you up the ranks in your Maps Listings…

It can help with your local landscaping seo listing but it’s mainly for the maps listing…

The great thing is, they’re easy to do and so effective at ranking your listing and getting the calls coming in…

The first one is…

Consistently post pictures and videos of your Landscaping work to boost your SEO rankings…

Google wants to know that you’re active on your Maps listing…

It makes them feel confident that you’re a real business…

And your customers love a good before and after reel so if you post these pics, Google will show it to your customers…

So make sure you take pictures of your Landscaping work all the time then post it on your GMB every week at a bare minimum…

If you can do it a few times a week, even better…

This is a pretty easy one to do…

The next one is really powerful at getting you to rank but for some reason, can be pretty difficult to get done…

And that is…

Google loves it when you get customer reviews on your GMB listing…

When you have a happy customer, ask if they can review your listing…

They can either google your business and leave a review or you can send them the link to your review page…

It’s pretty simple…

Just log in to your business listing and scroll down until you see “get more reviews”…

When you click that, you’ll be given a link that you can share with your customers…

Now the problem that makes this hard to do is a lot of your customers won’t leave you a review, even if they say they will…

Don’t know why but that’s how it is…

So just keep asking for the reviews and they’ll start to build up over time…

And so will your map rankings…

I’ve seen competitors jump into the map pack rankings by simply getting 1 or 2 reviews every week…

They suck at everything else but consistently getting reviews and it’s enough to get them to rank above their Landscaping competitors…

The bonus is that getting 5 star reviews gives you social proof and your customers love it…

Every second person who calls me says, “I was just reading your reviews and they’re really good, I just had to call”…

It makes a huge difference…

Especially if your customer searches for landscaping design and you pop up in the maps with 50, 5 star reviews and then they scroll down and there you are sitting in the top spot on the local seo listings…

The mere fact that you show up at the top of the google search listings is a powerful proof element…

Customers think you must be good if Google recommends you…

So with that said…

Let’s show you some more ways to to move your landscaping business up to the top seo spot…

Make sure you optimise your title tags and meta description for landscaping keywords…

See this here??

The heading is your title tags and the sentences underneath are your meta description…

You wanna get your keyword phrase in both of these…

So if you are trying to rank for “Landscaper Boise”, then those keywords need to be in both…

It could be something like…

Need a Landscaper in Boise?

If you’re looking for a Landscaper in Boise then our local landscaping service could be exactly what you’re looking for…

These can always be changed at any point so don’t get caught up on trying to be too clever with it…

Just get relevant landscaping keywords in there and be sure that it makes sense…

When you get better at writing your titles and descriptions, come back and fix them up…

That’s it…

The next thing you need to really power up your Landscaper SEO is…

Lots of SEO optimised content specific for Landscaping…

This step is so critical if you want to outrank your more powerful and established landscaping competitors…

What we’re going to do here is build topical relevance around landscaping…

See, Google only wants to show the best landscapers to their customers…

They don’t want to send a local, searching for landscaping services, to a website that is stuffed with keywords and not helpful..

And Google also wants to send their searchers to the best expert on the topic of landscaping, not just Joe down the road who thinks he knows a shortcut to installing a retaining wall…

I’m guessing you want to be that expert right?

Well, the best way to get Google to see you as the local Landscaping expert and send you all the customers is to go deep on answering Landscaping questions…

You want to be the most helpful landscaper in your area…

So, if there’s a question on “how to look after my lawn”, you write an SEO optimised article explaining everything a customer will need to know…

And if customers search for “What’s the best trees for shade”, then you create the most thorough article on choosing the best trees for shade…

But don’t stop there…

This is how you can knock off any competitor, no matter how big they are…

This is how you dominate seo for your landscaping business…

Most landscaping businesses will never do this on a deep level…

If you constantly add onto your content, you’ll have such a head start on your competitors that they’ll never be able to catch you…

But it all starts today with one SEO optimised article on landscaping…

Here’s what you need to do…

If you have a search term that you want to go after, go to Google and see who’s already ranked at the top for your keywords…

It could be something like “How to grow Kentucky bluegrass?”…

Do a search for that term and see who ranks in the top spot…

Click through to their website and read what they have on that page…

What headings do they have?

How about pictures??

How many do they have?

How many external links or links that connect to another website?

How many internal links or links that go to another page on their website?

How many words are on that page?

The reason you wanna do this is because Google is showing you that they consider this to be the best page to rank for your keyword…

They’re showing you exactly what they’re looking for…

So you want your page to at least have everything that this current number one has…

The thing is, yours has to be better than this one…

Your webpage and website has to be more relevant to your customers before Google will rank your site…

You want your article to be at least as good as this top ranking competitor…

We’re going to aim to make it better, but just as good is a great start…

Then you need a content hub to really boost your Topical Authority around Landscaping…

So now you have one article on retaining walls but you want to be the expert on all things retaining walls…

So you write an article for “how to build a retaining wall”…

“Best timbers for retaining walls”…

And any other question that people have about retaining walls…

When you go deep on a topic, Google we see you as the expert and rank you above all your competitors…

Now just know that you won’t get a lot of paying customers coming to these articles…

But once you rank these articles on retaining walls, your local page for your retaining walls service will shoot up to the top of the search engines…

That’s how you win the Landscaper SEO game…

Become “The Expert” and Google will reward you with paying customers…

Most of the time, this is all you’ll need to dominate the local landscaper SERPS…

But if you still aren’t ranking, there’s some other thing you need to look at…

You need a lightning fast website to crush it with SEO for Landscapers…

The one thing that Google hates is when their users get upset…

And people are so brittle these days, anything can get them mad…

And the number one thing that gets brittle spirited people really pissed off is clicking on a website and it takes forever to load…

They friggin hate it!

Which means Google hates it…

So if your website is slow and takes forever to load, Google won’t rank your page…

It’s that simple…

You can do everything right…

Have the best content…

You can have the best pictures…

You could be the most helpful website on landscaping services…

But if you have a slow website, your SEO efforts are screwed…

Lucky for you, I have some quick ways to speed up your landscaping website…

Let’s start by checking the speed of your site…

Head over to Google pagespeed insights and put in our URL…

You want to get your rating in the 90’s…

So you probably got somewhere in the 20’s right?

That’s ok…

The first thing you need to do is reduce the file size of your pictures…

If you’ve got a 2mb picture trying to load on your site, it will slow right down…

Head over to an image editing software like Pixlr and reduce the file size…

The second thing you should do is install a plugin called WPRocket…

This will work its magic and speed up your website…

You want to make sure when you set this up that you tick all the right boxes or you can break your website…

This can be a real problem so start by watching this video on how to set up WPRocket

Ok moving on…

The next seo tactic we need to look at is…

Internal and external linking…

Google is all about user experience or UX…

That’s why they hate slow websites…

And that’s why Google wants your content to be useful and relevant to the searcher…

One really important way to get your landscaping business to rank on Google is to have internal and external links…

For example…

If a customer comes to you looking for landscaping services and they click over to your general landscaping page, they may be after something more specific than general landscaping…

So they read through your page and they’re specifically looking for info on your lawn care service…

They scroll down and see that one of your services is actually “Lawn Care”…

You have a little speel on your service with a link to your “Lawn Care” page…

The customer can click through and get all the information they need about your service…

And that’s exactly what they were after…

That’s an example of an internal link…

You’re linking internally to another page on your own website…

Now sometimes, you might be explaining something helpful on your website like “The best types of retaining walls for X,Y & Z”…

You could be explaining that it’s best to use a concrete sleeper in this situation and a timber sleeper for this situation…

A great external link would be to link each of those products to a well known hardware store…

It’s helpful for your customers and it will boost the ranking power of your own website…

The thing is, you want to link out to strong, trustworthy brands, not some dodgy website…

If you link to a dodgy website, it makes your website look dodgy and it’ll actually move you down the seo rankings…

So link out to high quality websites and you’ll be rewarded…

This is such a simple thing to do but it’s also really easy to mess it up…

If you link out to another website or link internally to your own website and Google thinks that it’s not really relevant, then you’ll actually hurt your rankings…

The best tip I can give you is to make sure the links are super helpful to your customer…

If you explain how you need a certain type of seed, linking out to a store that sells that seed would work well…

Make sure your internal and external links are helpful to the reader…

Let’s keep going…

Now, staying on the topic of links, you also need…

Backlinks to Power up your Website…

This is old school seo but it’s still so relevant today…

So if you’re trying to push your landscaping website up the local seo rankings, then you’ll need to get some “votes”, better known as backlinks from other websites…

An incoming link is pretty much a vote from someone else who’s saying “Check these guys out, they’re pretty good”.

That’s all it is…

And when you get enough of these and they’re relevant to your Landscaping, Google will reward you with higher rankings…

This works for the seo and Google Business listing…

You can get these links in a variety of ways…

You can write great content and hope for the best…

There’s always the option to guest post on another website…

You may even try to be sneaky and purchase “power” backlinks from a PBN owner…

This last can work really well until Google catches you and your website disappears from the internet…

Along with your customers…

So I don’t recommend going out and buying backlinks…

And as you can imagine, getting high quality backlinks can be tricky business…

Lucky for you I have a way for you to get some really powerful backlinks from relevant websites without risking it all…

It’s completely “Google Legal”…

Check out this post on how to get Backlinks

Hey, and what do ya know??

That’s an example of a relevant backlink right there…’

You’re welcome…

Where do we take your Landscaper SEO from here??

I have to be honest…

There’s a lot more to SEO for landscapers than what I’ve gone through in this article but this list is pretty much the most important thing you need to do…

If you do only what I’ve listed above, you can get on the first page of Google for whatever landscaping keywords you want to rank for…

Thanks for sticking with me this long…

Well, I’ma stop right here…..

Peace…

Jace…
