Landscaping keywords

Landscaping Keywords like “landscape designer” get 165,000 searches each month…

A keyword like “landscape gardener” brings 60,500 per month…

Dang! Can you imagine what it would be like if you could get your landscaping business ranking at the top of Google for landscaping keywords like this…

Over 200 thousand customers each month calling you business…

You’ll be rich!!

Here’s the thing…

High Volume Landscaping Keywords like “Landscape Designer” bring in no money!!

Yep, it’s true…

Think about it…

These types of keywords are too general and can be used by searches on the other side of the country…

Someone 2 hours away from your local area can use that search term and your website will show up…

Two things happen from here…

  1. They see you’re not local and they never call you

Or worse…

  1. They call you…

Imagine 3000 people who all live too far from you, calling you for a landscaping quote…

You’ll never get any work done trying to answer all the waste-of-time-calls that keep coming in…

These types of Landscaping keywords only attract people you can’t do work for…

But if you hire an SEO agency to rank your website, these are exactly the keywords they’ll try to rank you for…

Have a look at the other articles written on this topic…

They all say to target these useless keywords like “Garden landscape” because it get 8500 searches per month…

And the reason is…

These keywords make the SEO agency look good because your search volume goes up…

But you don’t get any more work…

All you get is a website that shows up for useless landscaping keywords that don’t bring in any money…

But, I’m not trying to attack the SEO agencies here…

They’re not deliberately giving you bad advice…

The truth is, ranking websites is what they do…

Their job is to get your business to rank at the top of Google…

And that’s what they do…

But they’ve never run a local business themselves…

They’ve never experienced trying to run a Landscaping business with no money coming in…

They’ve never had to deal with the hundreds of calls that come in for customers who will never hire you…

And it’s become the standard that landscapers must travel all over the country if they want to work…

It doesn’t have to be this way…

I’ve built up 3 local trade businesses and I never travel more than 25 minutes from my home…

My phone rings off the hook with more clients than I can handle because I targeted the right keywords…

If you could work 25 minutes from home and make more money than you could ever imagine, would you travel 2 hours for work?

I didn’t think so…

Well, you don’t have to as long as you target the right Landscaping Keywords…

Target “Money Making” Landscaping Keywords, not “High Volume” Dead-End Keywords…

If you think about it logically, when people search for a Landscaper, the first thing they look for is if you’re local…

And it’s not because they want to support local businesses…

It’s because they booked a landscaper to come out and he never showed up…

The landscaper picked up a job closer to home so he doesn’t want to travel 2 hours out anymore…

Now the customer really wants a local guy to increase the chances that you’ll actually show up…

Plus if something goes wrong, the Landscaper on the other side of town will never come back to fix it…

The customers know it’ll be almost impossible to get them back, so the first thing they look for is if you’re local…

A customer like this doesn’t search for a “landscape designer”…

Nope, they search for a “landscape designer bentleigh”…

The funny thing is…

When you target the ‘Money Making’ landscaping keywords like “landscaper melbourne” you’ll also rank for the keyword “landscaper” when someone in Melbourne searches for this term…

That’s why you should only ever…

Target suburbs, not services…

This is where the money is when looking for landscaping keywords…

Any landscaping service with a suburb after it is a great keyword to target…

For example…

Landscaping Melbourne…

Retaining walls brighton…

Hydroseeding Melbourne…

Landscape design mornington peninsula…

I think you get the point…

These landscaping keywords are low volume but the people using them are great customers…

How to use these Local Landscaping Keywords to grow your business…

Well, here’s what you want to do…

  1. Create a list of all the different landscaping services you offer…
  2. List all of the suburbs you want to offer each service in…
  3. Then create a separate suburb page for each service you offer

It looks like this…

Landscape design Melbourne

Landscape design Hampton

Landscape design Brighton

Hydroseeding Melbourne

Hydroseeding Hampton

Hydroseeding Brighton

Retaining walls Melbourne

Retaining walls Hampton

Retaining walls Brighton

You need a different page for each service you offer and in each suburb you offer that service in…

But don’t get lazy and try to cheat …

Some companies create one page for each service, copy that page and just change out the suburb…

Don’t do this…

You need to create unique content for each page…

That’s how I’ve managed to rank above the big competitors in my area…

My website is not as strong as theirs but my content is unique and more helpful…

And the customers love it…

That’s how you win in the keyword game…

Now with all that said…

I’m gonna throw a spanner in the works and tell you that to rank your website for your local service and suburb keywords, you’ll need to rank this other type of keyword first…

And these are called…

Long Tail Landscaping Keywords…

These keywords are questions that customers ask about all types of landscaping…

For example…

“When is the best time to lay lawn seed?”

A landscaping keyphrase like this will not bring you any customers…

And usually it’ll only bring you a few website clicks a month…

But the reason you want to rank for these keyword phrases is because they are “relevant” to landscaping..

And when you rank for these easy landscaping keywords, Google will see you as a landscaping expert and it’ll boost your local service pages to the top of the local search…

And the more of these long tail keywords you rank for, the quicker your money making service pages will rank…

This speeds up the time it takes your website to rank

You can build out a new landscaping page in a completely new suburb you want to take over and Google will rank you in the top 3 positions in a matter of days…

So it’s really important that you start creating content for these low search volume keyword phrases and answer the question that people have about landscaping…

But before you go off and start answering questions, let me show you how to find these landscaping keywords so you don’t waste time writing articles that never rank…

How to Find Low Search Volume Keyword Phrases…

Head on over to Google Keyword Planner and type in a phrase like “How often to water my lawn”…

This is the result…

Great Landscaping Keywords
Great Landscaping Keywords

You can see that it gets 30 searches a month and the competition is low…

This is a great keyword to go after…

Write a 200 to 500 word article answering the question and you’ll be good to go…

But we don’t stop there…

Did you notice that Google suggested some similar keywords?

This was one of them…

“how much should i water my lawn”

This can be a sub topic in the same article…

Or it could be its own 500 word article…

Make sense?

Then when you set up a local service page for your lawn care service, Google sees you as an authority on lawn care…

And guess what happens next??

That’s right…

Google ranks you at the top for your money making landscaping keywords…

And that my friend, is how you get more work than you can handle…
