Discover the secret little tweaks you can make to rank higher on Google Maps and the sneaky little ways you can rank outside your local suburb…

Most of the ranking tactics agencies use for Google maps don’t work anymore…

They’ve been rendered useless by Google’s latest updates

And if you use these outdated tactics that the agencies push, then you could become one of the latest casualties when Google goes on its next “business banning spree”…

So if you want to know how to rank higher on Google maps within days but without getting your account shut down, then these Google My Business Ranking strategies could be exactly what you need…

Here’s what you need to know…

The Number One Factor in Improving Your Google Maps Ranking is Your Location…

Who would have thought hey?

Makes sense when you think about it doesn’t it??

The truth is, most people don’t want to hear this but your proximity to the person searching for your service is still the biggest GMP ranking factor…

Dagnamit!!

How are we going to game the system if Google uses our location to rank our GMB listing??

Well my friend, I’m glad you asked…

If you’re trying to rank outside of your local area then here’s one of the most powerful things you can do…

Get a location within the area you want your Google maps listing to rank…

Didn’t see that one coming did you?

Before you dismiss this idea, think about it…

If it’s worth enough to your business, you can lease a building in that area…

Or at the very least, list a home address in those areas…

Now, I’m not suggesting doing anything against Google’s terms of service, but if you know someone in the area, get a listing at their home…

Or just rent out a cheap office space…

It all comes down to return on investment…

If you can rent an office in that area for $200 per week but a top ranking Google My Business listing will bring in $2000 extra a week then don’t you think it would be worth it?

Just something to think about…

Anyway, if you’re located outside of the area you want to rank in, it’s not over for you just yet…

There’s still a few tricky things you can do to get your business to rank higher in those areas…

So if you want to know how to rank higher on google Maps then keep reading…

Boost Your GMB Ranking with Customer Reviews…

First this worked then it didn’t work so well and now…

Well, it can put your GMB listing on steroids…

To this day, I’ve seen businesses that don’t optimise their listings…

Their websites are horrendous and are buried on page 3 of Google…

They don’t do anything right except…

They get a ton of customer reviews and…

Whataya know??

They manage to rank in the top 3 of the local map pack…

WTF??

That shows how powerful getting customer reviews can be…

So let this be your wake up call…

Start right now, today!!

Get them customers to review your business…

And if you can…

You want to get this special “Magic Ranking Review” that can shoot your GMB straight to the top…

Now you don’t have too much control over this but, the words that your customers use in the reviews have a lot of pulling power…

If they mention the keywords and the suburb that you’re trying to rank for then that will give you a huge boost…

The local map rankings are highly motivated by being local, so getting reviews from people who live within the areas you want to rank for can be very helpful…

Oww weee!!

This combination is a highly potent “outside the suburb” Maps ranker…

Keep getting customers from those suburbs “outside your bubble” to leave you a review and power it up with the keywords…

Your phone better be charged cause your phone will be ringing off the hook…

But here’s the thing…

You need to be consistent with them…

Getting 100 reviews in a month and then nothing for 6 months won’t help you to rank…

2 reviews this week, 1 next week and 3 the week after is much better than a whole heap and then nothing…

The bonus to getting a bunch of 5 star reviews is that it makes you believable

When customers see your listing with 20 plus reviews they feel safe to give you a call…

The downside to reviews is that it can be hard to get…

I’ve gone through an easy way to get a ton of 5 star reviews in another post…

In case you missed it, it’s the blue link above…

Moving on…

How This Hidden Bit of Information Will Help You Rank Higher on Google Maps…

If you scroll down to the bottom of most local business websites you’ll notice this little bit of information that most people never look at…

It looks something like this…

Rank higher on Google Maps with N.A.P
Rank higher on Google Maps with N.A.P

This is known as the N.A.P…

Or the Name, Address, Phone number…

Nobody really cares if it is there or not…

But I’ll tell you who does care…

Google…

This info shows to Google that you’re a local business…

But if you want this info to help your GMB listing to rank higher then here’s what you need to do…

Make sure the N.A.P info that you use on your Google Maps Listing is identical to what you put on the footer on your website…

But that’s just the first step…

What you need to do next is copy that N.A.P and post it on local directories…

Us SEO nerds call this a citation…

Now go through and list your business on Yelp

List it on Hotfrog

Get your business listed in the Yellow Pages and any other relevant directory…

You’ll do this on about 100 different local directories…

These listings with your exact N.A.P point back to your website and let Google know that you’re a legit business…

And that my friend, is how to rank higher on Google maps…

Here’s the thing…

Without these citations YOU WON”T RANK ON GOOGLE MAPS!!

And if you list your website in the wrong directories, you’ll tank your Google Maps listing…

Jeepers creepers, this is serious business!!

So before you go and completely mess up your website with spammy, get your GMB suspended type of citations…

Maybe you might want a list of the safest, most powerful local directory sites?

I can send you the list that I use if you like??

If you want to get your grubby little hands on my super secret and highly converted list, then click the link below…

Super secret list of citations…

This is really starting to get exciting isn’t it??

But we’re not done yet…

To Supercharge Your GMB, You Need to Add Photos and Post Every Week…

I know, I know, this is starting to sound like work!

What on earth are you going to post about??

Well, how about this??

See how you’re getting customers and you’re doing work for them?

Yeah well, take pictures of your work and then post it to your Google Maps listing…

And then write, oh I don’t know, maybe 50 to 200 words on a Google Maps Post

It’s not that important what you write…

The point is to show Google that you’re a real business and you’re active on your listing…

That’s it…

They want you to be active…

It lets them know your business is alive and well…

The last thing they want to do is send customers to a dead business…

While we’re on the topic of creating content, there’s some other critically important information that you need to create if you want to rank high on Google maps…

Create web pages for every suburb and service you want to rank for…

You know how you paint houses in Eltham?

Well for this example you do, bare with me…

Anyway, if you want your business to rank in Google Maps, you’ll need to create a page on your website that is specifically for your painting services in Eltham…

And you know how you also want to paint houses in Bentleigh?

Yep, you guessed it…

You’re gonna need to create a clever little page for those houses in Bentleigh as well…

Just to be clear, you’ll need to create a separate page for each service you offer and in each suburb you offer them in…

Capish??

Good, now we’re really starting to get somewhere aren’t we??

Well, don’t quit on me just yet cause we’re almost done…

One of the last things you’ll need to do is…

Get a bunch of “Super-Dooper”, High Powered Backlinks and you’ll rank higher…

Ahh yes…

The old backlinks to boost your GMB ranking…

It’s the oldest trick in the SEO book but it’s still as relevant today as it was 10 years ago…

The only difference now is that the wrong backlinks will tank your website and pull your Google Maps listing down with it…

So you need some safe yet powerful backlinks to really push you up the rankings…

And you already know I have a pretty cool method to get all the backlink you could ever want…

Now, I don’t ever buy backlinks…

That would be against Google’s terms of service

No, I think we can do better than that…

How about if we contact a whole bunch of people and beg them to link to our site??

Na, I’ve got too much self respect to do anything like that…

Besides, that takes way too long and we’d have to slog through so much rejection that I don’t think my brittle spirit could take it…

Ok, how about this??

We can create a bunch of blogs on web 2.0 sites and write a ton of articles that can link over to our website and maybe even over to our GMB listing?

Yeah, that’s a great idea…

Oh, you don’t know what a Web 2.0 site is??

It’s a website that lets you host your own blog on their site for free…

Kinda like Medium.com

You head over there and set up your very own blog…

You create some content and link back to your own website and BAM!!

You have backlinks to your website…

You piggyback on the strength that the web 2.0 websites have built up and transfer that rank juice over to your own website…

Legally…

Without penalty from Google…

Yeah, I think we’re onto a winner with this one…

The only thing is, this will take a lot of work won’t it??

And there’s a whole strategy that you need to follow or you could…

You know what can happen don’t you?

Well, you better get to it…

Those backlinks won’t create themselves…

Ok, you know I can help you out with this right?

You know the deal…

Form below…

Give me your email address…

I’ll give you “how to do this backlinking thing to rank higher on Google maps”…

Deal?

Great, here’s the form…

If there’s no form here, email me and let me know…

If you want to know how long does it take for a new website to rank on google, then this could be the most important message you read all week…

Let’s get into it…

This can be such a dry subject that I’m at risk of putting you to sleep…

So what I’ll do is show you all the thing that affect how long it takes to rank a new website on Google without running long boring tests and then presenting you with pages upon pages of data…

Sound good?

Ok, so let’s bypass all this nonsense and just reveal the truth…

Are you ready for this groundbreaking info?

It’ll take you around 3 to 6 months to rank a new website on Google…

But it really does depend on a few things.

Here’s what we’re gonna do for ya…

I’m going to list out all the factors that affect how long it takes for your new site to rank and then let you know how you can speed up the process…

I know you want your site to rank asap so your business can take off.

Let’s dig in so you can rank quickly and get the money coming in…

The 7 reasons why your new website takes so long to rank on Google…

 1. Your industry is really competitive
 2. Your competitors are seo superstars
 3. You’re trying to rank for the wrong keywords
 4. You need more backlinks
 5. You need to work on your seo
 6. Your content sucks
 7. You need to be polite and ask Google to crawl your site

Let’s take a look at each one…

1.Your industry could be really competitive…

One of the main reasons a new website will take so long to rank on Google is because your niche is really competitive…

You can tell by the number of searches your target keywords get and the strength of the websites that rank for these keywords.

Go over to Ubersuggest and type in your main keyword and check to see how hard it is to rank for.

Let’s say you’re a plumber in Chicago…

A great keyword for you is something like “Plumber Chicago”…

You’ll get results like this…

Competition effects how long it takes to rank a new website on Google
Competition effects how long it takes to rank a new website on Google

See the column on the far right?

That’s shows how hard it is to rank a new website for that keyword…

If your keyword gets a score over 35 then it’s going to be hard to rank for. Over 60 and you’ll be waiting longer than 6 to 12 months…

Next, take a look at the number of searches your keywords get…

4,400 hey?

You’re gonna have a lot of websites trying to get that traffic. Check the average Domain Score of the website that shows up for this keyword.

40 DS?

Again, you’re looking at over 12 months…

A new website will be starting at 0 DS…

So in order to get your website to rank quickly on Google, look for keywords that have a lower competition and less monthly searches…

2. Your competitors are SEO superstars…

If your top competitors are really good at SEO then it will take much longer to rank a new website on Google…

Should you give up?

No, just find another way in. Don’t try to go head to head with the big guys.

Take the low hanging fruit and in time, you’ll build up to compete with the big boys and girls..

Just so you know, the low hanging fruit are the low search volume keywords…

This leads in nicely to the next reason why your new website will take a long toile top rank…

3. You’re trying to rank for the wrong keywords

You’ve got strong competition and it’s hard to get the “big money” keywords so here’s what you do.

Go for the long tail keywords. These are the ones with 4 or more words in them. They have far less people searching for them but they also have far less competition.

And when you rank for these long tail keywords, Google will see your website as being “valuable” and an “Authority in your industry”…

When this happens, you’ll be rewarded with ranking for the stronger, more competitive keywords…

But even with the easier keywords, there’s one thing you’ll need…

4. You need more backlinks…

The best place to start with backlinks is with Web 2.0 websites and your social media profiles, maybe even submit to article sites…

You won’t need crazy amounts of links or even strong links to rank for the less competitive keywords. But as you start to build up and try making a run at the top dogs, you’ll want to have strong links under your belt.

You could try reaching out to other website owners and ask for a backlink.

If you’re chasing the easy keywords and your competition is not so tough but you still can’t rank in 3 to 6 months, then…

5. Maybe you need to work on your SEO…

You can’t simply put up a new site, write one post and expect it to rank.

You nee to set your H1 and H2 heading set correctly…

You need to have the target key phrase scattered throughout your article…

You’l need back links and internal links…

There’s so much that you can improve that I can’t go through everything in this article…

Here’s the SEO checklist I follow: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now if you do everything right and your new website is sill taking too long to rank on Google then…

I don’t know how to tell you this, but, you’re not ranking because

6. Your content sucks…

If you want your website to rank quickly, you need to create content that answers the readers questions, helps them solve a problem and most importantly, isn’t boring…

You only get a few seconds to capture your reader’s attention and then hold onto it.

Here’s a couple of ways I like to do it:

 • Use writing formulas like AIDA
 • Write in your own voice and show your personality
 • Use pictures and animations

These are just a few ways you can make your website more engaging…

But, if you do everything right and you don’t do this one crucial thing, you’re website will never rank on Google…

7. You need to be polite and ask Google to crawl your site…

Google will get around to indexing your site, but when?

You have to take matters into your own hands and force the issue. Here’s what you do.

Head over to Google Search Console and make sure your website is on Google Search Console. Then click on URL Inspection from the menu on the left.

Enter the url of the pages you want Google to crawl and Google will do the rest.

Within 10 minutes you could find your website on page 3 to 5 on Google.

It can only get better from here…

This technique is so effective. I have this website for my Deck Restoration business and I write these articles that answer the questions that people have about restoring their deck.

So I wrote this one article and went through the SEO checklist. I got a couple of links to it then went live with it.

The last thing I do is head of to Google Search Console and request they index my site. 5 minutes later, I do a google search for my keyword just to see if I’m ranking yet. So I skipped through and there I was on page 3 at position 22…

It’s not page one but not bad for 5 minutes…

Over the next couple of days I do a search to see how quickly it moves.

Day 2, position 25…

Day 3, position 27…

I’m not worried because rankings move up and down all the time. As long as it trends towards number 1, there’s no problem…

Maybe if I give it a little more ranking juice it’ll move up to page 2. I post my article on Facebook and see if it can get some likes…

Then I post on Medium and link back to my post. Let’s see how that goes?

The next day I do my search and I’m not on page 1…

Didn’t think I would be…

What about page 2?

Nope…

Dang, I was hoping for a page 2 listing…

Well let’s see if I moved into the teens…

What the?

I wasn’t even on page 3…

Page 4… nothing…

Page 5… nothing…

I had disappeared out of the top 100…

I check my other pages on my site.

Lucky, I’m still ranking…

What is going on with my article?

Did I give it a dodgy link? Can’t be…

I didn’t use black hat tactics so I shouldn’t be punished for that…

I log into my Google Search Console account and see if I can get any indication from Google. I recheck the url indexing and guess what?

My page doesn’t exist on Google. They’ve never seen it before…

I have no idea why this happened. The page was indexed and ranked 3 days ago…

Request indexing… again.

And guess what?

I do a Google search 10 minutes later and…

I’m ranking position 11 in the search results…

That’s more like it…

About another 3 or 4 weeks and I should be in the top 3 if not number 1…

We’ll soon see…

The point is, if you want to rank quickly on Google, you need make sure Google knows you exist. The moment he does, he’ll start you on your journey up the rankings

You can easily do this for yourself…

It’s not that complex, no matter what your background is…

I’m a plumber who runs a deck restoration business.

If I can sit down and write articles like this and get them ranked quickly, then you can do it too…

Once you break it down into easy steps, you can move down the list, step by step, and rank any site…

You just need to find the right keywords and have something to write about and you’re good to go.

Then you can do some basic SEO…

And I do mean basic…

If you’re wondering how exactly you go about all of this, you can check out my guide ………

Enter your email address into the form below and I’ll

Sincerely,

Jason

What you’re about to read will show you one of the most basic, drop dead simple ways to get more reviews for your business…

This could work if you want to get reviews on Google or even if you want reviews on Facebook, it dosen’t matter. The strategy to actually get customers to leave you a review is the same…

I don’t need to tell you how important reviews are for enticing your customers to give you a call…

You already know that…

And you probably already know that customer reviews really gives you a boost in the map rankings and Google Seo, right??

But perhaps what you don’t know is that with the right strategy in place, it’s really simple to get 5 reviews in a week…

Or 20 reviews in a month…

And if you dare to dream…

100 reviews in only 6 months…

Ok, let’s not get ahead of ourselves…

Let’s start with getting you 5 reviews this week…

Introducing…

The Most Fool Proof, Drop Dead Easy, Guide to How I Get More Reviews Each And Every Week…

So let me just start by saying I own 3 local businesses…

I’ve had a lot of experience struggling to get customer reviews…

It seems to be a trend that if you do a great job for your customer, and they tell you how much they love your work, that you’d expect them to jump onto Google and Facebook to tell the whole world about this great person and company that they discovered…

Wrong…

It rarely ever happens…

As I’m sure you’ve discovered for yourself…

The thing is…

They don’t know how much that review would help you and to be honest, it’s not on the top of their list to help you…

They aren’t sitting around wondering how your business is going and what they could do to help…

So if you want that precious review from your happy customer, here’s what you need to do…

You Have to Ask Them For A Review!!

It’s as simple as that…

Every time you do a job, or you send out a product or whatever it is that you do, you need to ask your customer to review your business…

99 out of 100 won’t do it unless you ask them…

Get it??

Every customer you do work for…

Ask them to review your business…

So if you aren’t already asking, start today…

This will have the biggest impact on the number of reviews you get…

Now I know that at this point, there’s usually 2 groups of business owners…

 1. You’re asking for reviews but people don’t leave them…

Or

 1. You feel uncomfortable asking for reviews…

I can only help one of you at a time so let’s start with…

You’re Asking but Happy Customers Still Won’t Leave You a Review…

Ok, ok, so there’s 3 things you need to consider with this…

Make sure you ask for the review within 24 hours of doing the job…

You want the experience to be fresh in their minds…

They love your work today but a week from now, they don’t care as much…

So make sure you ask them right away…

What if they still don’t review your business?

Well, what can I tell you??

Your customers get busy and they forget…

The easy fix is to send them a reminder…

Wait 2 days and if they haven’t left you a review then send a friendly reminder…

And if they still don’t leave you a review??

I’d send another reminder about 3 days after that…

And if they still don’t leave you a review??

I’d forget about it…

I’ve had companies send me a reminder every week for a month and now I hate these guys…

So damn pushy…

Do you know what’s better than getting a review?

Getting a repeat buyer…

So don’t push too hard…

1 review request and 2 reminders is plenty…

What you have to remember is that some people will never leave you a review…

Except it and keep them as a paying customer instead…

And sometimes you need to realise that your business isn’t all that great to be reviewing anyway…

You did a good job and the customer is happy but your service wasn’t that spectacular that they would want to leave you a review…

So if you want to know How to Get More Reviews… Deliver a Service Worth Talking About!!

It can be as simple as that…

If you unblocked their toilet, then great but, ehh…

Do you deserve a review?

Maybe you do but can your customer be bothered??

But if you were on time…

And you called to confirm the day…

Then when you arrived you were dressed clean and tidy…

You took off your boots to walk on the carpet…

You cleared the blockage and cleaned up all your mess…

Ohh and while you were there, you noticed that the bathroom tap was dripping so you offered to give them your special “Money Saver Plumbing Audit”…

This is where you inspect the 5 main areas where a home is losing money on faulty plumbing fixtures…

It only takes 15 minutes but fixing one dripping tap could save them $150 over the year…

Then you do your audit and discover that their cooktop is electric and 15 years old…

You have a much better gas unit that would save them $300 per year on their bills…

After you change the washer for them and fix their dripping tap, you give them a quote for their new “money saver” cook top and let them know that they don’t need to replace it right now…

But once they’re ready, you can help them save money…

You go on your way but not before you give them your direct “Emergency” phone number only for your VIP customers…

And tell them that you can help them if they have any plumbing emergencies…

You’ve just given them an experience like no other company out there…

And 1 day later you follow up to make sure the toilet and tap are working properly and ask them to call you personally if they have any trouble with either one…

Now ask for a review…

See what happens…

And not only that…

Raise your prices while you’re at it…

Turn off all of your advertising because the repeat work and referrals will be too much for you to handle…

But more importantly..

The Number of Reviews You Get Will Jump Through The Roof…

The big take away here is that if you want to get more reviews then you need to deliver a service worth reviewing…

It’s as simple as that…

If this is too much work for you then you need to consider if being a business owner is for you…

Pocketing all of the profits and having the freedom of being the boss comes at a cost…

Taking care of your customers and I mean, really taking care of your customers is the cost you have to pay…

Otherwise, maybe you’re in the wrong business…

Just something to think about…

Moving on…

This One Thing Could be the Reason Your Customers Aren’t Leaving You Reviews…

I had this one customer who wanted to leave me a review but they had one big problem…

They couldn’t work out how to leave me a review…

I sent them to Google My Business but they didn’t have a Google account…

If your customers don’t have gmail, or a youtube account then they can’t login and leave you a review…

No problem, I’ll just send them over to Facebook to leave me a review…

2 days later…

No review…

I reached out to my customer and asked them if they had left a review on Facebook…

Apparently, they couldn’t work out where they needed to go on my page to leave a review…

So here’s what I did…

I wrote a little step by step guide that I sent to them so they knew exactly how to leave the review…

It was literally, click on this button here and I dropped in a screen shot of the button…

It was so simple that any confused customer could follow and leave me that precious review…

You know what happened?

I sent them the guide and they never went and left me that review…

They had already moved on…

They lost interest…

That is why I always send out this step by step guide to show them exactly how to leave me a review the moment I ask for the review…

Take them by the hand and show them while they’re hot and ready to review…

If it’s too hard for your customer, they won’t bother coming back and doing it again…

You get one shot at it…

So make it as easy for them as you can and you’ll be rewarded with more reviews for your business…

So there you have it…

The Triple Attack Method to Get More Online Reviews For Your Business…

For you there who has the B@lls to ask for reviews, Go Forth and Prosper…

You have everything you need as long as you take action…

That’s the only thing I can’t give you…

So go on, get outa here and get to work…

Now for you “Big Fraidy Cats”…

Let’s look at the most non-scary way to get more customer reviews…

How do I put this…

You need to step up and be brave…

You’re scared of being rejected or it’s embarrassing to ask for reviews, I get it…

But if you can’t work up the courage to ask a happy customer to leave you a review then maybe you’re not cut out for to be a business owner…

But you’re here right now trying to get better so I know you really want this…

Just rip that damn bandaid off and do it…

Now with that said…

You do have some options to make this a little easier on yourself…

Firstly…

Only ask for a review from customers who are really happy…

Then, have a set message that you can copy and paste and then text it to your customer…

You don’t have to ask them in person or over the phone…

Just send them a text…

When they say yes, you can also text them the link to go straight to the page where you want them to review you…

And if this is still too hard for you…

Get someone else to send them a text…

You don’t even have to do it yourself…

Ask you partner or your brother or your mum…

I don’t care…

Tell them exactly what to text and then get that text to your customers…

Here’s what’s going to happen when you do…

Most people will ignore it…

Yep, even the happy customers…

Then you’ll have a group of customers that’ll reply back with, “Of course I will, send the link over”…

Once you get that response and your reviews start to grow, you won’t care about sending out the review request…

Who cares if they don’t respond?

There’s always a buch who will and they’re the ones we care about…

You just have to do it…

One More Thing Before we finish up all this talk about How to Get Reviews…

I have a simple 3 step process that I use when I ask for a review…

I can show you how I ask for the review, how I follow up if they don’t leave a review and how I take them step by step through the process to make it super simple for them…

Just enter send me an email to jason@thelocalbusinesslifestyle.com and I’ll send it right over to you…

That’s it from me…

Peace,

Jason…

We all know that the holy grail of getting customers is to show up on Google when they come searching for your service…

The problem is that it’s getting a little squishy at the top…

There’s no breathing room up there…

Because there’s so much money to be made for a local service business when they rank at the top of Google, it’s almost impossible to get your business listed up there…

The big guys are just too hard to knock off…

Well actually…

It’s not as hard as you think…

I’ve done this In 3 different industries…

And in multiple different suburbs…

I managed to do it with this 200 words a week Strategy…

If I can do it, you can too…

I’m a plumber who stumbled into marketing my business 200 words at a time…

This is what it’s all about…

Introducing the 200 Words a Week, Google Local Ranking Strategy

First off…

To get this strategy to work, you need to realise that you are in the business of marketing the service you provide…

You are not in the business of providing the service…

That’s the first thing…

With that said, your main goal as a local service business owner is to get your business in front of the people who need your service…

And for a local trade business, the best place to get in front of your customers is definitely Google…

When customers want your service, Google is the place they go to find you…

So you need to be sitting at the top of the search ranking when they come looking…

Right??

That’s where This Marketing Strategy comes into play…

It’s actually pretty simple…

It is 3 easy steps that you repeat for 1 hour each week…

Let me explain…

 1. Find the questions that people ask related to your service…
 1. You answer them with 200 to 500 words…
 1. Then you’ll post it on your website…

Ummm…

That’s it dude…

Ok, there’s a little more to it but that’s essentially what it is…

The great news is, I said 500 but you only need 200 words per day to make this work…

The words compound and get more powerful on Google as you consistently add to them…

This is how you gain Google’s trust so they will rank your website and put you in front of local customers…

The fact that you show up on Google, it’s a real boost to gain your customers’ trust…

It really is that powerful…

Think about this…

If your customer has a leaking shower base and all the problems that come with it…

They have damaged plasterboard in the room behind…

The skirting boards are all buckled up…

And the carpet is starting to go mouldy…

It’s black mould too so now they’re freaking out…

But they’re also really worried that it is going to cost them a fortune so they desperately need someone they can trust…

Now they go hunting on Google for “Why is my shower base leaking” and they get your competitors showing up with…

“Shower Base Repair”, “We repair showers”…

That’s ok..

It’s what they’re looking for but then they see your listing…

“The 3 most common reasons why your shower base is leaking and how to fix them”…

That customer is clicking on your page right away…

Once they read your article, they’ll see how much experience and knowledge you have…

They’ll now be aware of how little they know and you’ll be the only person they trust…

Give them a minute, they’ll be calling you real soon…

Now rinse and repeat this every day…

5 articles a week equals 280 in one year…

That’s 280 little salespeople out there selling you as the expert to your customers searching for your service…

How about if you start with one article a week?

That’s 52 reasons why Google will show your website…

If you did this for one year, your business would spread far beyond your local suburbs…

You can slowly spread across the state…

Even the country if you wanted to…

Or you can just focus on a 20 mile radius around your business and be completely untouchable…

There’s no business out there that could infiltrate your kingdom…

You’ve already taken over…

And trust me when I say…

There is no business who has already done this…

Na, not even that huge national company who currently dominates Google in your local area…

They are the most powerful player in the area but they aren’t “hyper local” focused like you are…

And they aren’t as consistent as you…

Your small local presence is more relevant to Google but you just have to show them…

200 words at a time…

Do this for 3 months and see how much you dominate your local area…

My friend, you can do this…

You don’t have to be a great writer…

All you need to know is the answers to the questions people ask…

And because you’re a (Fill in the blank)…

You already know the answers…

It’s that simple…

The more you do it, the easier it will be…

You’ll get better at answering their questions and it’ll take you half the time…

You’ll probably find that you love it more than working on the tools…

That’s exactly what happened to me…

That’s why I’m here now telling you about it…

Now I know this can be hard if you’re not used to writing so I‘ve got something that could help you out…

I’ve got something that could help you…

Why content creation is important https://thelocalbusinesslifestyle.com/how-to-write-articles/why-content-creation-is-important/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=why-content-creation-is-important Sun, 23 Aug 2020 02:34:16 +0000 https://thelocalbusinesslifestyle.com/?p=653 The post Why content creation is important appeared first on The Local Business Lifestyle.

]]>

If you run a small business and you need a free, easy way to get more customers, then this short report on why content creation is so important could change your business forever…

Here’s why::

Did you know that content creation can turn you and your unknown, small business into the local expert and leader in your industry?

Content creation could be the difference between having a business that is thriving and growing everyday or being forced to shut up shop and suffer the humiliation of going back to your boss and begging for your old job back…

Is it really that important?

It is… let me explain:

Every small business has the same problems plaguing them…

 1. You need more customers.
 2. You need an effective way to get in front of more customers.
 3. You need to stand out from your competition
 4. You don’t want to compete on price

This is the exact problem I was facing when I started my first local businesses…

I was doing ok with running ads but I still wasn’t getting enough calls to my business…

And the customers who would call me were more concerned with getting a price over the phone. When your customers call and their main concern is “How much?” then you’re dealing with the dreaded price shopper…

This is the quickest path to the lowest prices and thinnest profit margins…

The other thing with these customers is that I ended up hating my business. I was offering a better service than my competition but my customers couldn’t see it.

In their eyes, we were all the same…

The only way my customers could decide who to hire was “who could do it the cheapest?”…

If this is you, you should seriously consider content creation…

Now if you think back to the main problems we face as small business owners…

 1. You need more customers.
 2. You need an effective way to get in front of more customers.
 3. You need to stand out from your competition
 4. You don’t want to compete on price

Here’s what content creation can do for you…

 • Gets you in front of your customers
 • Positions you as the expert
 • Allows you to show your personality
 • Customers get to know you and like you
 • Allows you to be their trusted advisor
 • You are no longer a stranger to your potential customer

To show you the power of content creation, let me tell you a story…

How I scored a $8000 deck restoration job without selling or any question about the price…

Here’s what happened:

I got a call from Rob about his decking…

This is Rob….

Content creation is important to be seen as an expert

Ok, that’s not Rob, that’s my buddy STick MAn, he’s alway messing around like that…

But that’s Rob’s deck that I restored…

Anyway, he’d recently had his deck restored by a company that was referred to him by a friend.

And these guys had a hard time with Rob’s deck. They ended up doing a pretty ordinary job on his decking…

3 months after Rob had his deck restored, it was starting to fade and peel…

To make a long story short, Rob went online to try to find someone who could do the job properly…

And guess who showed up to give Rob a solution to his problem…

Yep, twos I…

Rob clicked into my expert article and the moment he started to read, he was sold…

That one article positioned me, in Rob’s mind, as the expert…

Rob called me straight away to come over and take a look at his decking…

When I got there, I was going through my usual quoting process, but there was something different about this one…

Rob was asking me a lot of questions like he knew what he was talking about. He asked me why I thought his deck was fading so soon after the restoration and how I’d fix it…

He kept telling me that he should have called an expert like me instead of the other guys…

Then he started to talk about the other company and said, “I think they were good guys but amatures”…

“They don’t know the things you know”

You’ll never guess what happened next…

When I said I needed his email to send him a quote, he said…

“Just book it in”

“When can you do it?”

Umm, ok…

“I can do it in 3 weeks from today”

“Done, book it in”

I remember walking out of there thinking, what just happened?

Rob was sold on me before I walked in the door.

He trusted what I said and believed I could help him.

The price wasn’t an issue…

The difference between Rob and other quotes that I did, was that Rob had read my article that positioned me as an expert…

But this was just the beginning…

This one article now has customers calling me every day…

Now when people call me they say, “I loved your article on…” or “I love your website, I just had to call you”…

When people are online checking out local businesses, they’re looking for someone they can trust…

They’re looking for you to take them under your wing to guide them and tell them the truth.

How can they get all of this from a boring website?

They can’t…

That’s why, when your website pops up and you’ve got content that is helpful, answers their questions and shows you and your personality…

The customer feels like they know you and can trust you…

9 times out of 10, when I tell someone I can’t help them, they ask me if I have someone I could recommend…

I’ve never met these people before, but they trust that I will steer them in the right direction…

They trust my recommendation…

It’s a strange experience

And the thing is…

I’m not special…

Or a talented writer…

You’re reading my works right now, judge for yourself…

I’m just a small business owner who worked out how to put pen to paper and get the calls flooding in…

Well, it’s more like pointer fingers to keys…

But whatever…

You don’t need to be good at writing to create content that sells or persuades people to contact you…

Anyone can do it…

You just need a little bit of guidance…

And in no time, you’ll have your own hoard of Rob’s calling you.

Ready to listen to your advice.

Happy to pay you what you deserve…

So how exactly can you create this content?

Well, writer’s block is a real b!tch…

Especially when you’re not a writer.

Where do you begin?

Every time you write something, it’s extremely embarrassing to read it back…

How the heck are you going to put it online for everyone to read?

Well, I’ve got an easy way to do it…

It’s how I write all my articles…

It’s how I wrote this article…

And if you wanna know how to do it for yourself…

Then enter your email into the form below and I’ll send you the simple formula I use everytime I sit down to write an expert article…

It’s the same formula I used to write this article…

Enter your email and I’ll send it over to you

Think about this… You just typed in a search term similar to “How to write a blog article for SEO“ and you ended up here on my blog article…

Could it be, that this article, is in fact a real life example of how to write good articles for seo?

That’s exactly what it is…

And here’s the thing, I’m not a professional writer…

Or even a SEO expert…

I’m but a humble business owner who managed to figure out how to write interesting articles and then rank them at the top of Google…

Here’s the secret to how I managed to pull off this life changing feat…

I remember sitting down at my computer and struggling to even think of something to write about…

That damn cursor was just sitting there and flashing…

On… off… on… off…

It was like it was taunting me…

GIF of cursor

Nothing…

Crickets…

Damn! How do people do this?

Where do I start?

Then I had this thought…

I can’t make this stuff up. I need to stop trying to be creative. I need some direction…

So I thought. there’s actually people out there right now searching on Google for the service I offer…

Why not start with what the people are searching for.

So, I signed into my Google ads account and went to the keyword planner…

Then I started to type in search terms that I thought people would use…

I was trying to write a blog article for a deck restoration service so I tried out some keywords…

How to sand a deck?

How to restore a deck?

Best way to clean a deck?

How to paint a deck?

Then I found the keyword phrase that changed my whole business…

Are you ready for this?

The magic, life changing term was… why does my deck paint keep peeling?

I didn’t know it at the time but, this simple search term would get my blog to the top of Google…

Here’s the thing, this cleverly seo’d blog article doesn’t generate me any money. It doesn’t directly lead to much new work, but here’s what it does do…

It gives my website authority, relevance and power in the eyes of the all-knowing Google…

This one blog article helped drive the rest of my website to the top of Google for other, more profitable local search terms…

Let me continue…

Now I had my direction. I knew what I was going to write, I just needed a simple way to write it…

Remember, I’m a local business owner, not a writer…

So every time I sat down to write, I only got so far before I’d cringe while I read back what I had just written and delete the whole thing…

“This is too embarrassing to put out into the world”…

But then I made a discovery that made it simple to get the words out of my head and put onto the page…

It’s a simple 4 step process and it’s called AIDA…

If you haven’t heard of it before it goes like this:

Attention:

Interest:

Desire:

Action:

Or… AIDA

I started by getting their Attention with an interesting headline and opening sentences…

Your Deck Paint Keeps Peeling?

Here’s The Reason Why

Then I kept them reading by telling them Interesting things about why their deck keeps peeling…

Next I stirred up their Desire to have their deck fixed by a professional and offered them an ebook on how to choose the right Deck Restoration company..

You could also present them with an irresistible offer to stir up their desire… Highly recommended…

Then I finished by telling them what Action I wanted them to take. In this case it was to sign up for my ebook…

Always lead them to take an action

Something…

Anything…

But don’t let them go without taking action…

AIDA makes it so simple for you. I wrote this article you’re now reading using AIDA…

AIDA also plays a very important role in SEO for writing blog articles. One huge factor in SEO rankings is user experience. If your articles are boring and poorly structured, your readers won’t stick around to read the nonsense you put out…

They click the back button and go to the next option in Google…

This affects your bounce rate. Your bounce rate is how long people stay on your site before they leave. If you have a high bounce rate it means people don’t like your site and click out very quickly….

If Google sees your shi#tty bounce rate, they’ll stop sending people to your blog articles and your SEO ranking will plummet…

But you don’t have to worry about that, I’ve got you covered…

Google is gonna love your highly informative articles and reward you with a number 1 spot…

So there I was with my tightly written article and all the hopes of a ……

But alas, I wasn’t ready to rank just yet…

What else do I need to do to get this damn article to rank in the SEO listings?

Keyword in the heading… Check.

Keyword used throughout the article but not in a weird “keyword stuffing” way… Check.

But that’s only the beginning…

I also had to put my keyword in the Meta tags and description like this…

One of the first steps to SEO an article is optimising meta tags
Meta tags and description SEO optimised

Now we’re talking…

Google’s going to love this…

Negative….

It wasn’t to be…

I didn’t have anybody to vouch for me…

It turns out that Google is an insider’s club. A secret society of very powerful websites that keep all the ranking to themselves…

Unless you’re lucky enough to get one of these big-time-players to give you their vote of confidence…

I needed to get backlinks and I needed to get them fast…

But do you think I just walked in there and asked politely for one of the big timers to vouch for me?

Not a chance…

If they let me into the club and I turn out to be a troublemaker or worse, bore people to death, then their position at the high rollers table could be in jeopardy…

It seemed hopeless. How would I get these powerful, all knowing, higher powers to let me in?

They don’t know me and quite frankly… they don’t want to know me…

I needed a way to get my foot in the door then I had this idea…

I was going after keywords that weren’t very competitive so I didn’t need the biggest and baddest websites to give me their vote with a backlink…

I could get links from websites that weren’t so “Bigtime” and the power they have could possibly be enough to give Google the confidence to rank my blog articles…

So I bypassed the Superstar sites and went to their little brothers and lowly henchmen to see if they could get me in through the back door…

I would have to start at the bottom and work my way up, but I was willing to take any crumbs I could get…

I went to work quietly, day in day out and tried not to ruffle any feathers…

I picked up local directory citations…

I picked up Web 2.0 backlinks…

And I picked up some article directories…

And you know what?

That was enough to get me ranking for low competition keywords…

I was finally on the first page of Google…

All my hard work was starting to pay off

You’d think I’d be happy…

But I wasn’t…

I still wasn’t number one…

There were still a few things I needed to do to have an SEO friendly article and rank my blog number one in Google…

It turns out that Google, as smart as he is, gets confused very easily…

Google needs an easy way to determine what your site is about…

The fact that I wrote about decks and peeling paint didn’t help Google to figure it out…

He needed to be completely sure. He needed a way to look at my site and say “Ahhhh… Ok, now I know what your site is about”

Enter the undercover hero… schema markup, aka structured data…

I’m not going to pretend to understand this complicated beast…

I used this plugin called Schema Markup to get the secret markup on my blog posts…

Google then sent his spider robots to crawl and enter behind-the-scenes of my website…

There’s no hiding from Google, it was very invasive and embarrassing…

No… I’m just kidding…

It didn’t hurt a bit…

It takes about 10 minutes and when he’s done, Google understands exactly what your blog posts are about and where they fit in his empire…

Trust me…

You want to be entered by Google…

Anyway, It was no different to how I normally advance in life…

Moving on…

And up, a couple of spots at least, but still not number 1…

Before Google would give me the keys to the kingdom, I had to prove that I wasn’t a security risk…

I had to prove that my website couldn’t be used as a platform to launch an attack on the people…

There was only one way that Google will allow me to prove I was not going to give up sensitive information and personal secrets…

I needed to put a lock on my site with the aid of an SSL certificate and switching over to https:

If you wanna know how I did it step by step, you can check it out here…

It’s actually a lot easier than I thought and it took effect straight away…

Now there was but one hurdle left to jump…

Site Speed…

After I did all I could to get my foot in the door, I quickly worked out that everything that Google does is “Good for Business”…

Google’s business that is…

And if your site doesn’t make Google look good, then you’re going to spend your days floating around on page 5…

For Google to let you into the inner sanctum, you need to know what Google really wants…

It’s all about a great user experience…

And the one factor that us “outsiders” always trip up on is… our load times…

If a searcher clicks your link in the search results and they have to wait and wait and…

Actually these days, you only need to make someone wait a couple of seconds and they’ll click back out of your site…

When this happens, Google gets mad…

Google won’t tolerate any slow websites…

Google will make it so you never work in this town again…

So here’s what I did…

I went over to a top secret testing site that Google uses to test site speed…

If I give you the link, do you promise to keep it quiet?

Ok, here it is…

Google Speed Insights

I snuck over to this secret site and entered my url…

It came back with…

Your SEO’d article will never rank with a slow load time
Way too slow

Whoa…

That’s slow as ish…

I had to do something and I had to do it fast…

So I installed these plugins…

 1. W3 Total Cache
 2. Compress JPEG & PNG images
 3. a3 Lazy Load

It was extremely dangerous as any wrong setting in any one of these plugins and my website could break…

But I tapped into my inner powers and voila…

A fast website is all part of an article that’s been optimised for SEO
Now I’ve got a load time in the 90’s

I have a lightning fast website that leaves my competition for dust…

And within the next month…

I had earned my seat at the table…

My business was finally playing with the big boys.

I am no longer an invisible business hiding from the people willing to pay me handsomely for my services…

Wanna know a great marketing strategy for local business?

It’s the one that I use whenever I start a new business venture or want to move into selling new services.

It’s pretty simple, that’s why I love it.

And it’s one of the most effective Local marketing strategies I’ve ever used…

Are you ready for this?

It’s called “Find the buyers and sell them what they’re buying”

Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of this local marketing strategy. The great plans are always the simple ones…

But if you’re looking for a complex, hard to execute plan, you won’t find it here…

I only do simple, plain, but never boring, marketing that any humble, local business owner can do to get the calls coming in right away…

So if you want to know how to find your buyers and then sell to them, then this is for you…

How to find out where your buyers are and how to get in front of them…

Ok where were we?

Oh yeah, I was about to show you how to find the buyers who want what you’re selling…

The number one place to find the buyers who are eagerly searching for what you’re selling is no doubt, Google…

But before you freak out and start to think you don’t know how to get on Google or it’s too hard to show up above your competition, just stop…

It’s easy, you just need to know one thing.

What are your buyers typing in when they go to Google to find the service you offer?

That’s it…

And it’s actually pretty easy to get this info as well…

Here’s what you do:

Head on over to Google Keyword Planner. You’ll need to log into your ads account or sign up. Don’t worry, it doesn’t cost you anything…

Now once you’re in Google Keyword Planner, type in a keyword phrase that a buyer would use.

A great place to start is “Your product or service” followed by “your suburb”.

It would look something like this, “Florist Bentleigh”

Or, “mowing service kew”

Before we continue, just a little side trip…

Notice how I haven’t told you to create a “customer persona” and write a mission statement?

Right now, a make believe customer persona is the worst thing to focus on.

What we’re doing here is focusing on the market…

Once you understand your market properly, and you’ve worked with all the different types of customers in your market, then and only then can you create a customer persona…

If you create a make believe persona before you know who you like to work with, you could be building your business around a customer you can’t stand or doesn’t even exist…

It’s much better to study the market as a whole, get in front of them, sell to them, provide the service and most importantly…

Talk to them and get to know them…

You’ll soon discover the types of customers you like to work with and the ones you can’t stand…

You’ll know what makes them tick and a lot of the problems they face…

Once you know this about your customers, then you can create a customer persona based on a customer that actually exists and one that you like working with…

From that point on, you can create all of your marketing for that one person but we aren’t there just yet.

Today we’re becoming experts of markets…

Continuing on…

Ok, so let’s open the keyword planner and take a look.

We go into “Discover new keywords”…

Let’s see, how about “plumber melbourne”

Keywords for this simple local marketing strategy
Google Keyword Planner

Make sure you’ve got the right location at the top left of your screen.

I’ve put in the whole state, you could also change that to the suburb…

Now what do we have?

Look at the number of searches “plumber melbourne” has each month…

2400 buyers searching for a plumber in Melbourne each and every month…

Whoa…

How much fungolas would you make if you could show up in front of 2400 buyers every single month?

How many would you really need to have a thriving business?

Now you can see the potential in this local business marketing strategy, let’s get back to it…

A couple of things you want to look out for is, make sure there is a monthly search volume, and then look at the competition. You would ideally want a low to medium competition but if it is high, don’t be discouraged.

It means that there is money to be made with that keyword phrase. It will be a little harder to rank for and will probably take a little longer to do, but once you get there, just imagine the number of calls you’d get from 2400 buyer searches…

The last thing you want to note is the cost to bid on that term.

In this case, the top bid is $24.58…

So every time someone clicks on your ad it’ll cost you around $25…

Sounds expensive right?

Well if you set your ads up to speak to your market, and you sell a service that is more than $25, then it’s not expensive at all…

But don’t worry, you don’t have to run ads. It is the quickest way to get in front of your customers and get money coming in but you still have a couple of other options that are free…

Either way, you’ll need these keywords for all 3 options.

So back to hunting for keywords…

Open a Google Spreadsheet

And put “plumber melbourne” on the list and keep searching.

Find your keywords and plug them into your local marketing
Look for the low competition keywords

Notice how there are terms such as “gas plumber melbourne” that have less competition?

Or even “drain cleaning melbourne” has a low competition. This would be a perfect place to start…

Do you know what this means?

You just found your way in…

This would be a great keyword to show up for.

And once your in, you gain strength with each keyword you rank for. Over time, you’ll knock off the high competition keywords…

When you rank for the low competition keywords, it gives your other pages credibility in the eyes of Google…

So the low competition keywords fuel and strengthen your website to rank for the high competition keywords…

I call this local business marketing strategy:

Google Domination

This is what it looks like when you “dominate” your money keywords…

Check out Handyman on the Mornington Peninsula.

This is what this local marketing strategy looks like
Google Domination

This is one of my businesses…

As you can see, I show up first for Google Ads, Google Maps listings and the SEO listings…

What do you think are the chances that when a customer searches for my services, they give me a call?

This is exactly how I get in front of local buyers and sell to them…

And this is the best way to do market research…

Get in front of them and have a conversation like you’re friends…

When a customer likes you, they open up and will start to tell you things that will give you ideas…

They will tell you things that will make your brain flood with ideas…

But the key is to listen…

Don’t dominate the conversation…

With this local marketing strategy, you can start getting customers in straight away while you’re still working out all the ins and outs of your business…

You can make money today…

That’s why so many local businesses fail.

They worry about getting the business cards printed up…

They spend 2 weeks writing a mission statement…

They do everything but make money…

Which small business would you rather be?

The one wasting time and money?

Or the one that implements this simple marketing strategy to get in front of your buyers today?

How to implement this marketing strategy for local business…

While this is simple and anybody can do it, it does take a lot of work to get this local business marketing strategy to work…

It’s too much to put into one single article…

Plus, to rank in each spot available on Google, you need a different method…

So here’s what you need to do…

You need to tune back in next week for the next installment of “Google Domination”

Ok, you don’t need to wait a week, it’s already live…

There’s only 1 thing that matters when you’re looking at local online marketing…

That is to get customers to call you and then trust you enough to pay for your products and services.

All the mission statements, the business plans and the “make believe” customer persona can wait…

Once you get the calls coming in you’ll probably find you don’t need any of that…

The fact that you’re searching for how to do local online marketing, leads me to assume that you have a business and you need more customers and money coming in, so that’s what we’re going to focus on…

The only 3 things you’ll need to start…

It’s actually pretty simple. It only gets hard if you keep yourself busy with the things that make you feel good but don’t actually get the calls coming in…

Don’t wait for the business cards to get printed up…

Don’t wait for your pretty logo…

You don’t need it to make money…

From this point on you’re in client getting mode.

The only things you’ll need to begin marketing your business are…

1. Something people want to buy.

2. People searching for it…

3. A way to get in front of these people.

That’s it…

Don’t over complicate it…

Just a side note, I would probably also get insurance.

And 2 bank accounts…

One account for your profits and another account to cover taxes and expenses…

Now you should be good to go…

The truth is, when you’re staring out in business, all of the branding and customer profiling is a waste of time…

I’ve found that you won’t know who your ideal customer is or what they want until you start providing your service…

You think you’re selling to a certain type of person but once you’re in business, you start to realize that it’s a completely different customer than you expected, or worse…

The customer you built your business around sucks…

You hate doing work for these people and now you can’t stand your business…

If you already have a business set up and a customer that you love, then great.

The following marketing methods are still the best place for you to start…

Now I’m going to assume you have the first point covered. That is, you have something that people want to buy…

So, I’m going to go straight to number 2…

You need to have people searching for your product or service…

Listen and listen good…

The quickest and easiest way to enter any type of business and start making money is to Sell to the buyers…

Buyers are the people who are out there actively searching for your service right now…

A buyer is not any and everyone in your local area…

Don’t worry about who they are just yet. All you need to know is that they want what you’re selling.

You can easily work out who the buyers are by looking at what they search for online.

We’re not going to do a deep market analysis…

We just want to know what your customers are typing into Google when they need the product or service you offer.

So, what keywords and phrases do they use when they’re searching for your service?

Here’s how you find out:

Head over to Google ads keyword planner and find out what your customers are searching for on Google.

1. Start with a keyword that you think a buyer would use

A great keyword to start with is your service followed by your location.

For example… Plumber Melbourne, or Chiropractor Mentone.

These will be your main service pages. These are your money keywords…

2. Look for long tail keywords.

Think of a list of keyword phrases that your customer would be searching. These are likely to be questions such as… “How to stop my decking boards from cupping”

These phrases will be used for the topics of your blog posts.

These are your expertise and relationship building articles.

You can show up in 3 positions for most of these keywords. You should be trying to claim top spot in Google ads, Google My Business and the SEO results…

This is what it looks like for one of my businesses, Handyman on the Mornington Peninsula:

Local Online Marketing
Dominating local search on Google

This one search term is enough to drive my entire business. But this is not me trying to brag. Ok maybe a little, but I worked hard to get all 3 of those positions on Google…

For real though, how many calls do you think you’d get if your business showed up for the top spots in Google

Your customer would type in your money keywords and there you are. The top spot on the ad listings.

Ok, but most people hate clicking on the ads and scroll down to the maps listings…

Guess what?

You’re there too and you’ve got a bunch of before and after pics and dozens of happy customers leaving 5 star reviews…

What’s that?

You personally never click on the maps listing. You go straight down to the SEO listings…

Well so do most of your customers. That’s why you take that top spot as well…

I know what you’re thinking…

This takes a lot of time and money. You want something cheap, maybe even free, and something that will get the calls coming in today…

Well let me tell you this…

When I started my business, I put up a single ad on Google and within 30 minutes of going live, I got a call for $1500 worth of work.

Before you say you don’t have money for ads, I also didn’t have the money to pay for ads. You don’t need to pay anything until 30 days after your ads run…

You can set a daily budget $10 and if you think it’s not working you can pause it whenever you like. There’s no upfront payment. You only pay when someone clicks on your ad…

The click that resulted in $1500 worth of work, only cost me $3.50…

You can’t afford to spend $3.50 and get $1500 worth of work?

And the first month of Google ads only cost me $90…

Now, if I only received 1 job from my $90 ad spend I still made $1410 for the month…

So think of this…

I didn’t need to pay any money to start running ads on Google. And I didn’t need to pay any money unless a customer clicked on my ad. And I still didn’t need to pay any money until after 30 days within which time I made more than enough money to pay my bills, feed my family and pay for the $90 ad spend…

The way I look at it…

When you do Google ads right, they’re free…

They didn’t cost me anything out of my pocket. It all came from the profits generated by the ads…

Ok, maybe you’re not convinced or you still want a “Free” way to market your small business…

How about Google My Business or GMB?

This is a free advertising platform and if you know what you’re doing, you can show up in the top 3 spots within 2 weeks…

I know, because that’s how quickly I ranked one of my businesses on GMB

It can take longer, but shouldn’t take longer than 4 weeks…

The great thing about GMB is that it automatically shows up above the SEO listing.

And the qualifying requirement is that you’re local…

You need to have a physical address in the suburb you’re trying to rank in. This is great because it will cut out a lot of the outside competition. And a huge factor in a customer calling a service provider is that they are local.

I get asked all the time, “Are you local?”

Customers have this hang up about service providers that have to travel to do the work. They think that you’ll charge more if you have to travel or you just won’t show up…

And if you have a local shop where customers come to you, then your customers also prefer local because they don’t want to travel.

GMB local pack is powerful because your customer can see that you’re local. They can see your previous work, and they can see what past customers have to say about you…

I personally noticed a huge increase of calls coming in the moment I ranked on Google My Business.

So as long as you have a physical address in your service area, you can rank for your money keywords. But don’t worry if it’s your home address. You have the option to hide your address from the public. Google just needs to know you’re in the area…

So head over to GMG and get your business listed. Just fill in your details the best you can. Don’t wait or hesitate on this one. Google needs to send a postcard out to your address so you can confirm you’re in the area. It takes roughly 2 weeks…

So don’t wait till it’s perfect, get your postcard sent out then you can check out my other resources on GMB to help you fill out your listing so it ranks number 1 in the listings…

Here’s the thing, as good as GMB is, I’ve found one thing that’s better…

The top spot in the SEO listings

This is the cream of the crop when it comes to local online marketing.

For whatever reason, over 60% of your customers ignore the ads at the top, they skip straight past the GMB listings and they go straight to the SEO listings…

You can get enough work to run a successful business with just the first 2 methods that I showed you.

And at first, you’ll have no other choice. It can take 6 to 12 months to get to the top of the SEO listings.

No business can wait that long to get the calls coming in so here’s what you should do…

Set up your ads, you’ll get calls coming in within hours…

If you don’t know how to run ads without losing your shirt, then you can follow along with my Google Ads guide…

Then go ahead and claim your GMB listing and use my guide so you can get it set up properly. This will give you a big boost in customers within 2 to 4 weeks…

You’ll be scooping up around 40% of the buyers…

Now you’re getting a steady stream of work coming in, you can focus on the other 60% of the buyers who click on the SEO listings…

Anything you do for your SEO will also drive you Google Maps listing to the top of the rankings…

Do you need some extra help to get this all going?

Like I said before, this is how I do local online marketing for my own local businesses.

So just know, it’s not as hard as it seems…

That’s why I set up this website.

I document everything I do and put it on my website.

Plus, whenever I learn something new I write about it and send it to my list.

If you’d like to see how I do it for my business, and copy it for yourself, you should get on my list.
