If you run a small business and you need a free, easy way to get more customers, then this short report on why content creation is so important could change your business forever…

Here’s why::

Did you know that content creation can turn you and your unknown, small business into the local expert and leader in your industry?

Content creation could be the difference between having a business that is thriving and growing everyday or being forced to shut up shop and suffer the humiliation of going back to your boss and begging for your old job back…

Is it really that important?

It is… let me explain:

Every small business has the same problems plaguing them…

  1. You need more customers.
  2. You need an effective way to get in front of more customers.
  3. You need to stand out from your competition
  4. You don’t want to compete on price

This is the exact problem I was facing when I started my first local businesses…

I was doing ok with running ads but I still wasn’t getting enough calls to my business…

And the customers who would call me were more concerned with getting a price over the phone. When your customers call and their main concern is “How much?” then you’re dealing with the dreaded price shopper…

This is the quickest path to the lowest prices and thinnest profit margins…

The other thing with these customers is that I ended up hating my business. I was offering a better service than my competition but my customers couldn’t see it.

In their eyes, we were all the same…

The only way my customers could decide who to hire was “who could do it the cheapest?”…

If this is you, you should seriously consider content creation…

Now if you think back to the main problems we face as small business owners…

  1. You need more customers.
  2. You need an effective way to get in front of more customers.
  3. You need to stand out from your competition
  4. You don’t want to compete on price

Here’s what content creation can do for you…

  • Gets you in front of your customers
  • Positions you as the expert
  • Allows you to show your personality
  • Customers get to know you and like you
  • Allows you to be their trusted advisor
  • You are no longer a stranger to your potential customer

To show you the power of content creation, let me tell you a story…

How I scored a $8000 deck restoration job without selling or any question about the price…

Here’s what happened:

I got a call from Rob about his decking…

This is Rob….

Content creation is important to be seen as an expert

Ok, that’s not Rob, that’s my buddy STick MAn, he’s alway messing around like that…

But that’s Rob’s deck that I restored…

Anyway, he’d recently had his deck restored by a company that was referred to him by a friend.

And these guys had a hard time with Rob’s deck. They ended up doing a pretty ordinary job on his decking…

3 months after Rob had his deck restored, it was starting to fade and peel…

To make a long story short, Rob went online to try to find someone who could do the job properly…

And guess who showed up to give Rob a solution to his problem…

Yep, twos I…

Rob clicked into my expert article and the moment he started to read, he was sold…

That one article positioned me, in Rob’s mind, as the expert…

Rob called me straight away to come over and take a look at his decking…

When I got there, I was going through my usual quoting process, but there was something different about this one…

Rob was asking me a lot of questions like he knew what he was talking about. He asked me why I thought his deck was fading so soon after the restoration and how I’d fix it…

He kept telling me that he should have called an expert like me instead of the other guys…

Then he started to talk about the other company and said, “I think they were good guys but amatures”…

“They don’t know the things you know”

You’ll never guess what happened next…

When I said I needed his email to send him a quote, he said…

“Just book it in”

“When can you do it?”

Umm, ok…

“I can do it in 3 weeks from today”

“Done, book it in”

I remember walking out of there thinking, what just happened?

Rob was sold on me before I walked in the door.

He trusted what I said and believed I could help him.

The price wasn’t an issue…

The difference between Rob and other quotes that I did, was that Rob had read my article that positioned me as an expert…

But this was just the beginning…

This one article now has customers calling me every day…

Now when people call me they say, “I loved your article on…” or “I love your website, I just had to call you”…

When people are online checking out local businesses, they’re looking for someone they can trust…

They’re looking for you to take them under your wing to guide them and tell them the truth.

How can they get all of this from a boring website?

They can’t…

That’s why, when your website pops up and you’ve got content that is helpful, answers their questions and shows you and your personality…

The customer feels like they know you and can trust you…

9 times out of 10, when I tell someone I can’t help them, they ask me if I have someone I could recommend…

I’ve never met these people before, but they trust that I will steer them in the right direction…

They trust my recommendation…

It’s a strange experience

And the thing is…

I’m not special…

Or a talented writer…

You’re reading my works right now, judge for yourself…

I’m just a small business owner who worked out how to put pen to paper and get the calls flooding in…

Well, it’s more like pointer fingers to keys…

But whatever…

You don’t need to be good at writing to create content that sells or persuades people to contact you…

Anyone can do it…

You just need a little bit of guidance…

And in no time, you’ll have your own hoard of Rob’s calling you.

Ready to listen to your advice.

Happy to pay you what you deserve…

So how exactly can you create this content?

Well, writer’s block is a real b!tch…

Especially when you’re not a writer.

Where do you begin?

Every time you write something, it’s extremely embarrassing to read it back…

How the heck are you going to put it online for everyone to read?

Well, I’ve got an easy way to do it…

It’s how I write all my articles…

It’s how I wrote this article…

And if you wanna know how to do it for yourself…

Then enter your email into the form below and I’ll send you the simple formula I use everytime I sit down to write an expert article…

It’s the same formula I used to write this article…

Enter your email and I’ll send it over to you

Think about this… You just typed in a search term similar to “How to write a blog article for SEO“ and you ended up here on my blog article…

Could it be, that this article, is in fact a real life example of how to write good articles for seo?

That’s exactly what it is…

And here’s the thing, I’m not a professional writer…

Or even a SEO expert…

I’m but a humble business owner who managed to figure out how to write interesting articles and then rank them at the top of Google…

Here’s the secret to how I managed to pull off this life changing feat…

I remember sitting down at my computer and struggling to even think of something to write about…

That damn cursor was just sitting there and flashing…

On… off… on… off…

It was like it was taunting me…

GIF of cursor

Nothing…

Crickets…

Damn! How do people do this?

Where do I start?

Then I had this thought…

I can’t make this stuff up. I need to stop trying to be creative. I need some direction…

So I thought. there’s actually people out there right now searching on Google for the service I offer…

Why not start with what the people are searching for.

So, I signed into my Google ads account and went to the keyword planner…

Then I started to type in search terms that I thought people would use…

I was trying to write a blog article for a deck restoration service so I tried out some keywords…

How to sand a deck?

How to restore a deck?

Best way to clean a deck?

How to paint a deck?

Then I found the keyword phrase that changed my whole business…

Are you ready for this?

The magic, life changing term was… why does my deck paint keep peeling?

I didn’t know it at the time but, this simple search term would get my blog to the top of Google…

Here’s the thing, this cleverly seo’d blog article doesn’t generate me any money. It doesn’t directly lead to much new work, but here’s what it does do…

It gives my website authority, relevance and power in the eyes of the all-knowing Google…

This one blog article helped drive the rest of my website to the top of Google for other, more profitable local search terms…

Let me continue…

Now I had my direction. I knew what I was going to write, I just needed a simple way to write it…

Remember, I’m a local business owner, not a writer…

So every time I sat down to write, I only got so far before I’d cringe while I read back what I had just written and delete the whole thing…

“This is too embarrassing to put out into the world”…

But then I made a discovery that made it simple to get the words out of my head and put onto the page…

It’s a simple 4 step process and it’s called AIDA…

If you haven’t heard of it before it goes like this:

Attention:

Interest:

Desire:

Action:

Or… AIDA

I started by getting their Attention with an interesting headline and opening sentences…

Your Deck Paint Keeps Peeling?

Here’s The Reason Why

Then I kept them reading by telling them Interesting things about why their deck keeps peeling…

Next I stirred up their Desire to have their deck fixed by a professional and offered them an ebook on how to choose the right Deck Restoration company..

You could also present them with an irresistible offer to stir up their desire… Highly recommended…

Then I finished  by telling them what Action I wanted them to take. In this case it was to sign up for my ebook…

Always lead them to take an action

Something…

Anything…

But don’t let them go without taking action…

AIDA makes it so simple for you. I wrote this article you’re now reading using AIDA…

AIDA also plays a very important role in SEO for writing blog articles. One huge factor in SEO rankings is user experience. If your articles are boring and poorly structured, your readers won’t stick around to read the nonsense you put out…

They click the back button and go to the next option in Google…

This affects your bounce rate. Your bounce rate is how long people stay on your site before they leave. If you have a high bounce rate it means people don’t like your site and click out very quickly….

If Google sees your shi#tty bounce rate, they’ll stop sending people to your blog articles and your SEO ranking will plummet…

But you don’t have to worry about that, I’ve got you covered…

Google is gonna love your highly informative articles and reward you with a number 1 spot…

So there I was with my tightly written article and all the hopes of a ……

But alas, I wasn’t ready to rank just yet…

What else do I need to do to get this damn article to rank in the SEO listings?

Keyword in the heading… Check.

Keyword used throughout the article but not in a weird “keyword stuffing” way… Check.

But that’s only the beginning…

I also had to put my keyword in the Meta tags and description like this…

One of the first steps to SEO an article is optimising meta tags
Meta tags and description SEO optimised

Now we’re talking…

Google’s going to love this…

Negative….

It wasn’t to be…

I didn’t have anybody to vouch for me…

It turns out that Google is an insider’s club. A secret society of very powerful websites that keep all the ranking to themselves…

Unless you’re lucky enough to get one of these big-time-players to give you their vote of confidence…

I needed to get backlinks and I needed to get them fast…

But do you think I just walked in there and asked politely for one of the big timers to vouch for me?

Not a chance…

If they let me into the club and I turn out to be a troublemaker or worse, bore people to death, then their position at the high rollers table could be in jeopardy…

It seemed hopeless. How would I get these powerful, all knowing, higher powers to let me in?

They don’t know me and quite frankly… they don’t want to know me…

I needed a way to get my foot in the door then I had this idea…

I was going after keywords that weren’t very competitive so I didn’t need the biggest and baddest websites to give me their vote with a backlink…

I could get links from websites that weren’t so “Bigtime” and the power they have could possibly be enough to give Google the confidence to rank my blog articles…

So I bypassed the Superstar sites and went to their little brothers and lowly henchmen to see if they could get me in through the back door…

I would have to start at the bottom and work my way up, but I was willing to take any crumbs I could get…

I went to work quietly, day in day out and tried not to ruffle any feathers…

I picked up local directory citations…

I picked up Web 2.0 backlinks…

And I picked up some article directories…

And you know what?

That was enough to get me ranking for low competition keywords…

I was finally on the first page of Google…

All my hard work was starting to pay off

You’d think I’d be happy…

But I wasn’t…

I still wasn’t number one…

There were still a few things I needed to do to have an SEO friendly article and rank my blog number one in Google…

It turns out that Google, as smart as he is, gets confused very easily…

Google needs an easy way to determine what your site is about…

The fact that I wrote about decks and peeling paint didn’t help Google to figure it out…

He needed to be completely sure. He needed a way to look at my site and say “Ahhhh… Ok, now I know what your site is about”

Enter the undercover hero… schema markup, aka structured data…

I’m not going to pretend to understand this complicated beast…

I used this plugin called Schema Markup to get the secret markup on my blog posts…

Google then sent his spider robots to crawl and enter behind-the-scenes of my website…

There’s no hiding from Google, it was very invasive and embarrassing…

No… I’m just kidding…

It didn’t hurt a bit…

It takes about 10 minutes and when he’s done, Google understands exactly what your blog posts are about and where they fit in his empire…

Trust me…

You want to be entered by Google…

Anyway, It was no different to how I normally advance in life…

Moving on…

And up, a couple of spots at least, but still not number 1…

Before Google would give me the keys to the kingdom, I had to prove that I wasn’t a security risk…

I had to prove that my website couldn’t be used as a platform to launch an attack on the people…

There was only one way that Google will allow me to prove I was not going to give up sensitive information and personal secrets…

I needed to put a lock on my site with the aid of an SSL certificate and switching over to https:

If you wanna know how I did it step by step, you can check it out here…

It’s actually a lot easier than I thought and it took effect straight away…

Now there was but one hurdle left to jump…

Site Speed…

After I did all I could to get my foot in the door, I quickly worked out that everything that Google does is “Good for Business”…

Google’s business that is…

And if your site doesn’t make Google look good, then you’re going to spend your days floating around on page 5…

For Google to let you into the inner sanctum, you need to know what Google really wants…

It’s all about a great user experience…

And the one factor that us “outsiders” always trip up on is… our load times…

If a searcher clicks your link in the search results and they have to wait and wait and…

Actually these days, you only need to make someone wait a couple of seconds and they’ll click back out of your site…

When this happens, Google gets mad…

Google won’t tolerate any slow websites…

Google will make it so you never work in this town again…

So here’s what I did…

I went over to a top secret testing site that Google uses to test site speed…

If I give you the link, do you promise to keep it quiet?

Ok, here it is…

Google Speed Insights

I snuck over to this secret site and entered my url…

It came back with…

Your SEO’d article will never rank with a slow load time
Way too slow

Whoa…

That’s slow as ish…

I had to do something and I had to do it fast…

So I installed these plugins…

  1. W3 Total Cache
  2. Compress JPEG & PNG images
  3. a3 Lazy Load

It was extremely dangerous as any wrong setting in any one of these plugins and my website could break…

But I tapped into my inner powers and voila…

A fast website is all part of an article that’s been optimised for SEO
Now I’ve got a load time in the 90’s

I have a lightning fast website that leaves my competition for dust…

And within the next month…

I had earned my seat at the table…

My business was finally playing with the big boys.

I am no longer an invisible business hiding from the people willing to pay me handsomely for my services…
