Nailing SEO for Landscapers could be the most lucrative action you ever take in your business…

If you hate travelling around and you want more landscaping jobs closer to home, Landscaper SEO is your answer…

If you ever have those slow periods throughout the year where the phone stops ringing…

Having your website set up and optimised for Landscaping keywords will completely eliminate any slow periods…

If you’re spending money on advertising, you can put that ad money back into your pocket…

Cause once you set this up, it runs on autopilot to continually bring you hot and ready local customers…

But as great as local SEO is, it can be really complex to set up…

There’s just so many moving parts and so many things you can mess up…

The truth is, you can ignore 90% of the seo ranking tricks that are out there and just focus on the essentials to get your landscape business ranking…

Ok, so let me show you how you can do this…

The No-Nonsense Way to make a Fortune with SEO for Landscapers…

SEO for landscapers can take a looooong time to work and get the quality calls you want…

In other words, you can do everything right but it’s gonna be a while before Google decides to show your website for those keywords that make you money…

It could be months…

Maybe even 6 months…

But don’t get all dis-heartened and give up on me now…

That’s for your competitors…

Besides, there’s one part of the local seo for landscapers that you can get working within around 2 to 4 weeks…

In a lot of cases, this is more effective than SEO listings…

And that is to rank on the Google Business Listings

Or you could call it the maps listings…

Either way, this is what it looks like…

The first step in SEO for Landscapers

In my business, the map listings have been more profitable than the seo listings…

And what you do to rank in the maps also helps to rank your landscaping company in the search listings too…

So that’s why the first step when doing SEO for Landscapers, is to dominate the Google Business Profile listings…

If you want to know how to set up your map listing, I’ve already put together a guide on How to Rank High on Google Maps

What you do for the maps, also feeds seo and what you do for seo, feeds the maps…

With that said, the most important thing you can do to rank your business on Google my Business has nothing to do with the online world…

The most important thing you need to get your landscaping business to the top of the Google My Business Listings is…

Get a physical location in the areas you want to rank in…

Yep, that’s the most important thing…

I’ve seen businesses rank in the top 3 that haven’t optimised their website or listing…

The only thing they have going for them is that they have a physical location in the service area…

Now this can be a home address or it can be a business address…

If you don’t live in the area or have someone in the area that you can use their address to verify your listing, then it could be a good move to look at renting a cheap office with its own mailing address…

If it costs you $200 a week but you are getting calls from landscaping clients who pay 30, 40 or 50 grand for your services, the $200 is a great investment…

It’s actually cheaper than running ads in most cases…

Just something to think about…

The next thing you need to dominate the maps and SEO for Landscapers is…

SEO Optimised Landscaping Service and Suburb pages…

The great thing about doing seo for your landscaping company is that it’s all local…

Even if you work all over the country, you’re still a local business…

Local seo is one of the easiest types of seo to rank for…

All you need is a service and a suburb…

On your map listing, you want to select the services that you offer…

It will be something like landscaping, deck building, garden design or whatever categories you see as being relevant to your landscaping business…

After you’ve done that, you want to select the suburbs or service areas that you service…

You can select up to 20…

Now here’s where your competitors fall short…

What you want to do now is create a page for each service you list and a page for each suburb you provide each service in…

It will look something like this…

Your Services…

A Retaining Walls page…

A Landscaping page…

A Garden design page…

Your Suburbs and Services…

A Landscaping Safety Beach page…

A Landscaping Dromana page…

A Garden Design Safety Beach page…

A Garden Design Dromana page…

A Retaining Walls Safety Beach page…

A Retaining Walls Dromana page…

Make sense??

It’s a lot of work to set up but once you get it all done and ranking, you can just sit back and get landscaping customers flowing in all day every day for free…

The thing is, you don’t have to do this all at once…

You start with one page and keep adding to it week after week…

Eventually you’ll have a tonne of ranking pages on Google and the calls will be on a steady flow…

I’m in a small beach town with mainly holiday homes and I get 10 plus calls a day…

And I don’t pay a cent…

I’m getting calls from pages on my website that I created 4 years ago…

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…

The next thing we need to do to get this to work is…

Give your Landscaping SEO a huge boost by Getting Listed on Relevant Citation Sites…

The one thing that can make this work all come crashing down around you is your N.A.P…

That is, Name, Address, Phone Number…

The idea is that you take your N.A.P and get it listed across a whole bunch of relevant directories that will show Google that you’re a legit business…

The thing is, your N.A.P has to be exactly the same on every website you list it on as it is on your Map listing and your website…

Somewhere on your website, usually on the footer, you need your N.A.P…

It’ll look like this…

Now it’s critical that this N.A.P on your website is exactly the same as you listed on your maps listing…

And then when you list it in the directories, your details need to match your Google Business listing…

If you put in a different business name then Google can’t link it back to your maps listing…

Remember they want you to prove that you’re a real landscaping business, and links or citations from other sites is the proof you need…

So make sure you get your N.A.P right when you list it on citation sites…

Here’s a list of the top citation sites that you need to be listed on…

The Best Citation Sites…

Go forth and list away…

Get your business on all of these citation sites…

Now we’re really starting to get the rank juices going but there’s a couple of other things that can really power up your Google Business rankings…

The next 2 are really powerful for pushing you up the ranks in your Maps Listings…

It can help with your local landscaping seo listing but it’s mainly for the maps listing…

The great thing is, they’re easy to do and so effective at ranking your listing and getting the calls coming in…

The first one is…

Consistently post pictures and videos of your Landscaping work to boost your SEO rankings…

Google wants to know that you’re active on your Maps listing…

It makes them feel confident that you’re a real business…

And your customers love a good before and after reel so if you post these pics, Google will show it to your customers…

So make sure you take pictures of your Landscaping work all the time then post it on your GMB every week at a bare minimum…

If you can do it a few times a week, even better…

This is a pretty easy one to do…

The next one is really powerful at getting you to rank but for some reason, can be pretty difficult to get done…

And that is…

Google loves it when you get customer reviews on your GMB listing…

When you have a happy customer, ask if they can review your listing…

They can either google your business and leave a review or you can send them the link to your review page…

It’s pretty simple…

Just log in to your business listing and scroll down until you see “get more reviews”…

When you click that, you’ll be given a link that you can share with your customers…

Now the problem that makes this hard to do is a lot of your customers won’t leave you a review, even if they say they will…

Don’t know why but that’s how it is…

So just keep asking for the reviews and they’ll start to build up over time…

And so will your map rankings…

I’ve seen competitors jump into the map pack rankings by simply getting 1 or 2 reviews every week…

They suck at everything else but consistently getting reviews and it’s enough to get them to rank above their Landscaping competitors…

The bonus is that getting 5 star reviews gives you social proof and your customers love it…

Every second person who calls me says, “I was just reading your reviews and they’re really good, I just had to call”…

It makes a huge difference…

Especially if your customer searches for landscaping design and you pop up in the maps with 50, 5 star reviews and then they scroll down and there you are sitting in the top spot on the local seo listings…

The mere fact that you show up at the top of the google search listings is a powerful proof element…

Customers think you must be good if Google recommends you…

So with that said…

Let’s show you some more ways to to move your landscaping business up to the top seo spot…

Make sure you optimise your title tags and meta description for landscaping keywords…

See this here??

The heading is your title tags and the sentences underneath are your meta description…

You wanna get your keyword phrase in both of these…

So if you are trying to rank for “Landscaper Boise”, then those keywords need to be in both…

It could be something like…

Need a Landscaper in Boise?

If you’re looking for a Landscaper in Boise then our local landscaping service could be exactly what you’re looking for…

These can always be changed at any point so don’t get caught up on trying to be too clever with it…

Just get relevant landscaping keywords in there and be sure that it makes sense…

When you get better at writing your titles and descriptions, come back and fix them up…

That’s it…

The next thing you need to really power up your Landscaper SEO is…

Lots of SEO optimised content specific for Landscaping…

This step is so critical if you want to outrank your more powerful and established landscaping competitors…

What we’re going to do here is build topical relevance around landscaping…

See, Google only wants to show the best landscapers to their customers…

They don’t want to send a local, searching for landscaping services, to a website that is stuffed with keywords and not helpful..

And Google also wants to send their searchers to the best expert on the topic of landscaping, not just Joe down the road who thinks he knows a shortcut to installing a retaining wall…

I’m guessing you want to be that expert right?

Well, the best way to get Google to see you as the local Landscaping expert and send you all the customers is to go deep on answering Landscaping questions…

You want to be the most helpful landscaper in your area…

So, if there’s a question on “how to look after my lawn”, you write an SEO optimised article explaining everything a customer will need to know…

And if customers search for “What’s the best trees for shade”, then you create the most thorough article on choosing the best trees for shade…

But don’t stop there…

This is how you can knock off any competitor, no matter how big they are…

This is how you dominate seo for your landscaping business…

Most landscaping businesses will never do this on a deep level…

If you constantly add onto your content, you’ll have such a head start on your competitors that they’ll never be able to catch you…

But it all starts today with one SEO optimised article on landscaping…

Here’s what you need to do…

If you have a search term that you want to go after, go to Google and see who’s already ranked at the top for your keywords…

It could be something like “How to grow Kentucky bluegrass?”…

Do a search for that term and see who ranks in the top spot…

Click through to their website and read what they have on that page…

What headings do they have?

How about pictures??

How many do they have?

How many external links or links that connect to another website?

How many internal links or links that go to another page on their website?

How many words are on that page?

The reason you wanna do this is because Google is showing you that they consider this to be the best page to rank for your keyword…

They’re showing you exactly what they’re looking for…

So you want your page to at least have everything that this current number one has…

The thing is, yours has to be better than this one…

Your webpage and website has to be more relevant to your customers before Google will rank your site…

You want your article to be at least as good as this top ranking competitor…

We’re going to aim to make it better, but just as good is a great start…

Then you need a content hub to really boost your Topical Authority around Landscaping…

So now you have one article on retaining walls but you want to be the expert on all things retaining walls…

So you write an article for “how to build a retaining wall”…

“Best timbers for retaining walls”…

And any other question that people have about retaining walls…

When you go deep on a topic, Google we see you as the expert and rank you above all your competitors…

Now just know that you won’t get a lot of paying customers coming to these articles…

But once you rank these articles on retaining walls, your local page for your retaining walls service will shoot up to the top of the search engines…

That’s how you win the Landscaper SEO game…

Become “The Expert” and Google will reward you with paying customers…

Most of the time, this is all you’ll need to dominate the local landscaper SERPS…

But if you still aren’t ranking, there’s some other thing you need to look at…

You need a lightning fast website to crush it with SEO for Landscapers…

The one thing that Google hates is when their users get upset…

And people are so brittle these days, anything can get them mad…

And the number one thing that gets brittle spirited people really pissed off is clicking on a website and it takes forever to load…

They friggin hate it!

Which means Google hates it…

So if your website is slow and takes forever to load, Google won’t rank your page…

It’s that simple…

You can do everything right…

Have the best content…

You can have the best pictures…

You could be the most helpful website on landscaping services…

But if you have a slow website, your SEO efforts are screwed…

Lucky for you, I have some quick ways to speed up your landscaping website…

Let’s start by checking the speed of your site…

Head over to Google pagespeed insights and put in our URL…

You want to get your rating in the 90’s…

So you probably got somewhere in the 20’s right?

That’s ok…

The first thing you need to do is reduce the file size of your pictures…

If you’ve got a 2mb picture trying to load on your site, it will slow right down…

Head over to an image editing software like Pixlr and reduce the file size…

The second thing you should do is install a plugin called WPRocket…

This will work its magic and speed up your website…

You want to make sure when you set this up that you tick all the right boxes or you can break your website…

This can be a real problem so start by watching this video on how to set up WPRocket

Ok moving on…

The next seo tactic we need to look at is…

Internal and external linking…

Google is all about user experience or UX…

That’s why they hate slow websites…

And that’s why Google wants your content to be useful and relevant to the searcher…

One really important way to get your landscaping business to rank on Google is to have internal and external links…

For example…

If a customer comes to you looking for landscaping services and they click over to your general landscaping page, they may be after something more specific than general landscaping…

So they read through your page and they’re specifically looking for info on your lawn care service…

They scroll down and see that one of your services is actually “Lawn Care”…

You have a little speel on your service with a link to your “Lawn Care” page…

The customer can click through and get all the information they need about your service…

And that’s exactly what they were after…

That’s an example of an internal link…

You’re linking internally to another page on your own website…

Now sometimes, you might be explaining something helpful on your website like “The best types of retaining walls for X,Y & Z”…

You could be explaining that it’s best to use a concrete sleeper in this situation and a timber sleeper for this situation…

A great external link would be to link each of those products to a well known hardware store…

It’s helpful for your customers and it will boost the ranking power of your own website…

The thing is, you want to link out to strong, trustworthy brands, not some dodgy website…

If you link to a dodgy website, it makes your website look dodgy and it’ll actually move you down the seo rankings…

So link out to high quality websites and you’ll be rewarded…

This is such a simple thing to do but it’s also really easy to mess it up…

If you link out to another website or link internally to your own website and Google thinks that it’s not really relevant, then you’ll actually hurt your rankings…

The best tip I can give you is to make sure the links are super helpful to your customer…

If you explain how you need a certain type of seed, linking out to a store that sells that seed would work well…

Make sure your internal and external links are helpful to the reader…

Let’s keep going…

Now, staying on the topic of links, you also need…

Backlinks to Power up your Website…

This is old school seo but it’s still so relevant today…

So if you’re trying to push your landscaping website up the local seo rankings, then you’ll need to get some “votes”, better known as backlinks from other websites…

An incoming link is pretty much a vote from someone else who’s saying “Check these guys out, they’re pretty good”.

That’s all it is…

And when you get enough of these and they’re relevant to your Landscaping, Google will reward you with higher rankings…

This works for the seo and Google Business listing…

You can get these links in a variety of ways…

You can write great content and hope for the best…

There’s always the option to guest post on another website…

You may even try to be sneaky and purchase “power” backlinks from a PBN owner…

This last can work really well until Google catches you and your website disappears from the internet…

Along with your customers…

So I don’t recommend going out and buying backlinks…

And as you can imagine, getting high quality backlinks can be tricky business…

Lucky for you I have a way for you to get some really powerful backlinks from relevant websites without risking it all…

It’s completely “Google Legal”…

Check out this post on how to get Backlinks

Hey, and what do ya know??

That’s an example of a relevant backlink right there…’

You’re welcome…

Where do we take your Landscaper SEO from here??

I have to be honest…

There’s a lot more to SEO for landscapers than what I’ve gone through in this article but this list is pretty much the most important thing you need to do…

If you do only what I’ve listed above, you can get on the first page of Google for whatever landscaping keywords you want to rank for…

Thanks for sticking with me this long…

Well, I’ma stop right here…..

Peace…

Oh, hey there…

Welcome my greedy little business owner…

I see you wanna know how to improve your local seo…

First up…

Improving your local seo ranking will be one of the most profitable investments you ever make…

A small local business, with no employees that ranks at the top of Google will make an absolute killing…

I’m talking 300k plus per year…

Working only 4 days per week…

That’s $6000 to $7000 per week…

All from the customers you get from your local area…

So congratulations…

You’re on the path to being very wealthy damit!!

But here’s the thing…

Everything you’ve been told about “How to improve your local SEO results” DOES NOT WORK!!

This is getting really dramatic isn’t it??

Ok, let me explain what I mean…

So you should have done all the SEO stuff that the experts told you about…

You know, the meta descriptions and the title tags…

Add suburb pages to your website…

I hope they told you to do that…

Anyway, you’ll need to reach out and get backlinks…

Get listed on Google My Business…

Get about a gajillion citations…

But remember to get your N.A.P right…

Does any of this sound familiar??

Let me tell you this…

Everything “The Others” have told you about How to Improve Local SEO is…

100% correct!!

Yep, you need to do that entire laundry list of tweaks and optimisations…

All of it…

And it works…

But if they’re telling you the truth and this stuff supposedly works, how come you’re not ranking at the top of Google??

Well, all of your competitors have done all the same sh!t as you…

Right??

They must have if they rank above you…

And your “higher ranking competitors” probably have some expensive agency that does it all for them…

Those slimy bastards!!

Man, but you don’t have the money to pay someone 3 grand a month!!

This is B.S…

And they’ve been at it so long, Google trusts their website more than yours…

Damn it!!

You’re never gonna be able to make up the 10 year headstart they have…

I guess we need to switch over to PPC instead…

It’s a lost cause…

Hold on, hold on, don’t get all dramatic…

Stop your whining!!

Sure they’ve got a huge head start and they have deeper pockets but you don’t need all that…

If you want to know how to improve your local seo and rank above your bigger, badder competitors then continue reading…

Because I’m about to show you 3 of the most Powerful ways you can slide past your competitors and steal that top ranking for yourself, even if they totally dominate your local seo rankings…

How to Improve Local SEO, Secret #1

The first secret to improve Local seo I’ve got for you is called…

Local Suburb Clusters…

Well, that’s what I call it…

I don’t really see anybody else talking about this one, I sort of stumbled onto it by accident…

For this example, pretend you provide window cleaning services in Bentleigh…

Anyway, this is what you need to do…

  1. Set up a suburb and service page for your window cleaning in Bentleigh…
  2. Next you want to set up a page for window cleaning prices in Bentleigh…
  3. Have a link from your window cleaning page to your prices page…
  4. Then create a page for how to clean windows on a double story house in Bentleigh…
  5. Then link your window cleaning page out to your double story Bentleigh page

Get it??

You can also cross link your prices page to your double story page as well…

Then just keep adding suburb specific content like “the best place to get window cleaning products in Bentleigh”…

So it looks like this…

PIC of link stack

Then rinse and repeat for every suburb and service that you offer…

Make sure your content is original and helpful…

That’s all Google wants from you

Now when you do this for all of your surrounding suburbs as well, your website becomes extremely relevant locally…

So putting up locally relevant content on your website will improve your local SEO results…

Moving on…

Cool Local SEO Tip #2 to Boost Results…

Now this next Local SEO tip is anything but local…

I call it the “Overseas Content Rank”…

See in the first tip, putting up “very local” content that only people in those suburbs would read gives you local relevance…

In this next tip we’re going to rank for keywords that show up in the UK, or USA, Canada, or even India…

Here’s the idea…

You want to find keywords that have a low search volume, maybe 10 to 30 searches per month…

And you want the competition for that keyword phrase to be low…

What we’re after here is something that is highly relevant to Lawn Mowing…

Because now we’re running a lawn mowing business…

Keep up!!

Ok, so back to the keyword…

A great phrase to rank for would be “how short can you cut kentucky bluegrass”…

Worldwide it gets 30 searches per month and the competition is low…

What you would do now is write an article about 1000 words long…

Put in pictures…

Link out to some other relevant website that helps with the answer…

And then link over to your “overseeding kentucky bluegrass in spring” post…

Oh, you don’t have a post like that??

Well you have to write it…

You see, what you’re doing here with these posts is positioning yourself as an expert on the topic of lawns, grass and lawn care…

So Google looks at your site as being “Relevant” to anyone searching for topics on lawns…

When someone in your local area searches for “Lawn Mowing Rye” Google sees you as the most relevant because you have posts that rank and help people all over the world…

Your international post improves your local SEO by giving your site Relevance and Authority

One easy-to-rank post will give your local SEO a huge boost, now imagine what would happen if you had a whole army of these little posts ranking and giving your website relevance and authority…

Yep, WE”RE GONNA BE RICH!!

But hang on, because we can do even better than this…

There has to be another way we can use these blog posts to drastically ramp up our local SEO…

You know I’ve got a little surprise for you…

It’s called…

Crank up Your Local SEO with a “Google Legal” Backlink Stack…

Ok, so we’ve gone through and we’ve really turned the dial up on your relevance…

But it would be a shame to let all that great content go to waste and not work to its full potential wouldn’t it??

Yeah it would be…

Ok, so here’s what we can do…

Take those same articles you’ve already written and post them on other sites…

Go over to Medium.com and start your own blog…

Head over to Weebly.com and create a site with a blog…

Now post those same articles you’ve already posted on your website on these other websites…

Then link back to your website…

Bam!!

Instant backlinks from high powered and trusted sites…

Uhmm, but this sounds a little dodgy doesn’t it??

Well, the very conservative, goody two shoes and Local SEO expert, Neil Patel told me that on these sites there’s no such thing as duplicate content…

Ok, so he didn’t tell me personally but I heard him say it on a video…

The point is, Neil does everything by the book…

He only does White Hat SEO techniques…

Much like myself…

So if Neil does it, then I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this technique that I’ve personally used to improve my local seo rankings, works great and is totally “Google Legal”…

So now that we can trust that I’m not leading you up the garden path, get to creating more content…

Now this next part is really important for local SEO…

You need to consistently create content

And not just any old content…

You want high quality and relevant content…

Then post it on your website to position yourself as the Authority…

And then use it to link back to your own website…

While you’re at it, how about you post those same articles on your Facebook business page…

And take the intro to your article and create a post on your Google My Business listing with a link to the article…

When you create something great, you want to get the most use out of it as possible…

Doing this little strategy that I just layed out for you, is going to be your “Giant Killer”…

This is how you can slay any competitor that stands in the way of your Local seo rankings…

While they’re busy trying to sell $25k franchisers, you’ll be stealing their top seo ranking…

By the time they catch onto what you’re doing, they’ll never catch you…

They wouldn’t even know how…

The SEO Agency they employ will frantically try to keep up by purchasing dodgy PBN links and Google will catch them red handed…

Opps…

Now no one will ever take your throne…

You’ll be the big dog…

But you need to take action right now…

Start out by creating your Suburb Clusters…

Then find your keywords and deploy the Overseas Content Rank…

Next power it all up with your very own Backlink Stack…

Be consistent and see how much you improve your Local Seo Ranking…

I wish you all the best in your local seo domination…

Your friend,

Jason

Wait! Before You Go…

Just quickly…

One thing that I found to really increase your local seo or just plain ordinary seo for that matter, is to have a well optimised Google My Business listing…

All the “Must Do’s” for GMB seems to also have a helping hand to improve local seo ranking as well…

I think it’s the fact that your GMB links back to your website…

That’s a link straight from Google itself…

If Google doesn’t trust your site you ain’t gonna rank…

Everything you do to optimise your GMB is to build trust with Google and your customers and this trust passes onto your website and business as a whole…

So if you haven’t already, get going on your Google Business Profile…

You can see how I increase rankings on a stale Google My Business listing

Peace…

If you want to know how long does it take for a new website to rank on google, then this could be the most important message you read all week…

Let’s get into it…

This can be such a dry subject that I’m at risk of putting you to sleep…

So what I’ll do is show you all the thing that affect how long it takes to rank a new website on Google without running long boring tests and then presenting you with pages upon pages of data…

Sound good?

Ok, so let’s bypass all this nonsense and just reveal the truth…

Are you ready for this groundbreaking info?

It’ll take you around 3 to 6 months to rank a new website on Google…

But it really does depend on a few things.

Here’s what we’re gonna do for ya…

I’m going to list out all the factors that affect how long it takes for your new site to rank and then let you know how you can speed up the process…

I know you want your site to rank asap so your business can take off.

Let’s dig in so you can rank quickly and get the money coming in…

The 7 reasons why your new website takes so long to rank on Google…

  1. Your industry is really competitive
  2. Your competitors are seo superstars
  3. You’re trying to rank for the wrong keywords
  4. You need more backlinks
  5. You need to work on your seo
  6. Your content sucks
  7. You need to be polite and ask Google to crawl your site

Let’s take a look at each one…

1.Your industry could be really competitive…

One of the main reasons a new website will take so long to rank on Google is because your niche is really competitive…

You can tell by the number of searches your target keywords get and the strength of the websites that rank for these keywords.

Go over to Ubersuggest and type in your main keyword and check to see how hard it is to rank for.

Let’s say you’re a plumber in Chicago…

A great keyword for you is something like “Plumber Chicago”…

You’ll get results like this…

Competition effects how long it takes to rank a new website on Google
Competition effects how long it takes to rank a new website on Google

See the column on the far right?

That’s shows how hard it is to rank a new website for that keyword…

If your keyword gets a score over 35 then it’s going to be hard to rank for. Over 60 and you’ll be waiting longer than 6 to 12 months…

Next, take a look at the number of searches your keywords get…

4,400 hey?

You’re gonna have a lot of websites trying to get that traffic. Check the average Domain Score of the website that shows up for this keyword.

40 DS?

Again, you’re looking at over 12 months…

A new website will be starting at 0 DS…

So in order to get your website to rank quickly on Google, look for keywords that have a lower competition and less monthly searches…

2. Your competitors are SEO superstars…

If your top competitors are really good at SEO then it will take much longer to rank a new website on Google…

Should you give up?

No, just find another way in. Don’t try to go head to head with the big guys.

Take the low hanging fruit and in time, you’ll build up to compete with the big boys and girls..

Just so you know, the low hanging fruit are the low search volume keywords…

This leads in nicely to the next reason why your new website will take a long toile top rank…

3. You’re trying to rank for the wrong keywords

You’ve got strong competition and it’s hard to get the “big money” keywords so here’s what you do.

Go for the long tail keywords. These are the ones with 4 or more words in them. They have far less people searching for them but they also have far less competition.

And when you rank for these long tail keywords, Google will see your website as being “valuable” and an “Authority in your industry”…

When this happens, you’ll be rewarded with ranking for the stronger, more competitive keywords…

But even with the easier keywords, there’s one thing you’ll need…

4. You need more backlinks…

The best place to start with backlinks is with Web 2.0 websites and your social media profiles, maybe even submit to article sites…

You won’t need crazy amounts of links or even strong links to rank for the less competitive keywords. But as you start to build up and try making a run at the top dogs, you’ll want to have strong links under your belt.

You could try reaching out to other website owners and ask for a backlink.

If you’re chasing the easy keywords and your competition is not so tough but you still can’t rank in 3 to 6 months, then…

5. Maybe you need to work on your SEO…

You can’t simply put up a new site, write one post and expect it to rank.

You nee to set your H1 and H2 heading set correctly…

You need to have the target key phrase scattered throughout your article…

You’l need back links and internal links…

There’s so much that you can improve that I can’t go through everything in this article…

Here’s the SEO checklist I follow: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now if you do everything right and your new website is sill taking too long to rank on Google then…

I don’t know how to tell you this, but, you’re not ranking because

6. Your content sucks…

If you want your website to rank quickly, you need to create content that answers the readers questions, helps them solve a problem and most importantly, isn’t boring…

You only get a few seconds to capture your reader’s attention and then hold onto it.

Here’s a couple of ways I like to do it:

  • Use writing formulas like AIDA
  • Write in your own voice and show your personality
  • Use pictures and animations

These are just a few ways you can make your website more engaging…

But, if you do everything right and you don’t do this one crucial thing, you’re website will never rank on Google…

7. You need to be polite and ask Google to crawl your site…

Google will get around to indexing your site, but when?

You have to take matters into your own hands and force the issue. Here’s what you do.

Head over to Google Search Console and make sure your website is on Google Search Console. Then click on URL Inspection from the menu on the left.

Enter the url of the pages you want Google to crawl and Google will do the rest.

Within 10 minutes you could find your website on page 3 to 5 on Google.

It can only get better from here…

This technique is so effective. I have this website for my Deck Restoration business and I write these articles that answer the questions that people have about restoring their deck.

So I wrote this one article and went through the SEO checklist. I got a couple of links to it then went live with it.

The last thing I do is head of to Google Search Console and request they index my site. 5 minutes later, I do a google search for my keyword just to see if I’m ranking yet. So I skipped through and there I was on page 3 at position 22…

It’s not page one but not bad for 5 minutes…

Over the next couple of days I do a search to see how quickly it moves.

Day 2, position 25…

Day 3, position 27…

I’m not worried because rankings move up and down all the time. As long as it trends towards number 1, there’s no problem…

Maybe if I give it a little more ranking juice it’ll move up to page 2. I post my article on Facebook and see if it can get some likes…

Then I post on Medium and link back to my post. Let’s see how that goes?

The next day I do my search and I’m not on page 1…

Didn’t think I would be…

What about page 2?

Nope…

Dang, I was hoping for a page 2 listing…

Well let’s see if I moved into the teens…

What the?

I wasn’t even on page 3…

Page 4… nothing…

Page 5… nothing…

I had disappeared out of the top 100…

I check my other pages on my site.

Lucky, I’m still ranking…

What is going on with my article?

Did I give it a dodgy link? Can’t be…

I didn’t use black hat tactics so I shouldn’t be punished for that…

I log into my Google Search Console account and see if I can get any indication from Google. I recheck the url indexing and guess what?

My page doesn’t exist on Google. They’ve never seen it before…

I have no idea why this happened. The page was indexed and ranked 3 days ago…

Request indexing… again.

And guess what?

I do a Google search 10 minutes later and…

I’m ranking position 11 in the search results…

That’s more like it…

About another 3 or 4 weeks and I should be in the top 3 if not number 1…

We’ll soon see…

The point is, if you want to rank quickly on Google, you need make sure Google knows you exist. The moment he does, he’ll start you on your journey up the rankings

You can easily do this for yourself…

It’s not that complex, no matter what your background is…

I’m a plumber who runs a deck restoration business.

If I can sit down and write articles like this and get them ranked quickly, then you can do it too…

Once you break it down into easy steps, you can move down the list, step by step, and rank any site…

You just need to find the right keywords and have something to write about and you’re good to go.

Then you can do some basic SEO…

And I do mean basic…

If you’re wondering how exactly you go about all of this, you can check out my guide ………

Enter your email address into the form below and I’ll

Sincerely,

Jason

Trying to reach out to other websites and get backlinks for local SEO is almost impossible…

And it’s definitely a waste of time…

You don’t need to beg other websites for a local backlink when the best way is to create them yourself…

Here’s how I do it…

The Best Backlinks to Start With For Local SEO Are High Authority Business Listings…

Let me list the ones that pack the most local ranking power…

  1. Facebook Business Profile…
  2. Google Maps Profile…
  3. Bing Business Listing…
  4. Apple Maps Listing…

Creating business profiles on each of these power players will give your website a huge boost…

So if you haven’t already, you should go ahead and create your profile on each of these right now…

Don’t forget to put your website url on there…

That’s 4 easy and powerful local backlinks for you…

Now all you have to do is update them on a regular basis and the backlink will push out more rank juice…

But this is just the beginning…

Because, next we’re going to…

Get a Bunch of Citations With Backlinks Pointing to Your Local Website…

These citation links will power up your Google Maps listing as well as your Local SEO…

What you need to do is head over to every business directory on this list, and add your business details and website url…

Now for this to work properly, you want to make sure that you have your Name, Address and Phone number exactly the same on your GMB profile as you do on your website and copy that directly over to each and every business directory…

You want to match perfectly…

Oh, and make sure you add your website url so it points back to your website…

And whatcha know??

That’s another great local seo backlink…

If you do this across 100 different directories, that’s 100 backlinks pointing to your website…

Just a word of caution…

Don’t get any old backlinks to your local website…

If they’re scammy links, they’ll tank your website and you’ll disappear from the local search…

So don’t try to cheat on this…

Do it properly…

Ok, now your website is really starting to get some traction…

But, most of your local competitors have the same citations and backlinks as you…

Let’s take it up a notch shall we??

Create Your Own Backlinks with These Websites…

See what you’re gonna do now is head over to sites like Medium and Blogger and you’re going to create another website…

Now these websites are going to be built around the same service that you currently offer…

For example, if you’re a plumber, these sites will be plumbing websites…

So what you want to do is start answering questions about plumbing and posting it on these websites…

It can be simple 200 to 500 word posts that answer 1 question and have a link back over to your local business site…

A site like Medium has a high authority ranking on Google…

So when you have an article on plumbing linking over to your website, it will be a quality local seo backlink…

You then take this same content and you post it on Blogger…

And I don’t like to waste an SEO content so I’d also post it on your Facebook Business Profile and possibly as a post on Google Maps…

Look at all those local backlinks coming in…

Who would have thought??

Anyway…

As powerful as this is, I think we can do even better…

The Best Backlinks For Local SEO Would Have to be Links From Other Local Websites…

Think about it…

Google wants to know that you’re local before they show your business in the local search…

What shows that you’re local more than a backlink from another local business website??

Nothing!!

So let’s go get some local SEO backlinks…

First you want to search on Google for Business Directories “Your Suburb”…

For example…

Business Directories Highett…

This is what you get…

Use local directories to get backlinks
Use local directories to get backlinks

What you want to do is click through to each search result and look for where it says ”List Your Business”…

And dagnamit!!

List your business…

Don’t forget to put your website URL there…

That’s a great local backlink right there…

Ok, now we’re really starting to get somewhere…

But how about if we can get a backlink from a powerful government website??

Ok, so now we want to do a search for your local Chamber of Commerce…

Your local Chamber of Commerce is great for backlinks
Your local Chamber of Commerce is great for backlinks

These are extremely powerful local websites that if they point back to you, will be some of the best backlinks for Local SEO you could ever get…

What you want to look out for is something like joining the Chamber of Commerce…

Now, this will be a paid service that some people won’t want to pay for…

But if they have the option to get your business associated with them, just know that you’ll be the only business in your space to be getting such a powerful backlink…

It’ll definitely be worth the money to join…

If your Local Chamber of Commerce doesn’t have any option for you to join, then maybe look to see if you can list a job on their website…

Trying getting a link by posting a job
Trying getting a link by posting a job

You’ll most likely have to reach out to them by email or give them a call but if you can, you’ll most likely get to list your business url on the job listing as well…

It’s a bit of a sneaky way to get a powerful backlink for local SEO…

But we can’t stop now because…

There’s still another way to get local government backlinks to your website…

Have you ever seen those local businesses awards?

You know…

They nominate some local businesses and they take a vote and award the top 3 businesses…

You win money and all that…

You get to tell everyone that you have won business of the year…

Yay…

Who cares??

Well, your local rankings do, that’s who…

You see, when you get nominated for the awards, they put your business up on their site with a little write up about how great you are…

And wouldn’t you know it…

They also put a local seo backlink to your website…

Isn’t that interesting??

And you don’t even have to win…

Winning will give you a better backlink but all you need is to be nominated…

And do you know how you get nominated?

No??

Well, you just need someone to like a friend or a brother or even your mum to nominate your business…

That’s it…

Then you have to accept the nomination and the one of the best backlinks for local SEO is yours…

You’re welcome…

Well my friend, that right there are some of the best ways to get backlinks for local SEO…

I recommend starting at the top of this article and working your way down…

It does take some time to build up these local backlinks but like anything else in life, if it’s too easy then everyone would be doing it…

So enjoy the process and just know that if you need help with doing any of these local backlink strategies, then reach out and I will gladly see if I can help…

Leave a comment below and let me know what you think…

Jace…

Let’s get straight into it…

Does Google Maps help with SEO??

Yes… 100%

Anything you do to your Google Maps listing to rank will also help pass on ranking power to your website…

But you need to set your Google Maps listing up a certain way if you want it to help with your SEO…

How to set up your Google Maps Listing to Help With SEO…

First up, if you want your Google Maps listing to rank higher, you need to get a bunch of citations to your website…

Without going into all the boring details, citations are listings on business directories with your business name, address, contact details

This is your N.A.P…

Or Name, Address, Phone Number…

In case you don’t know…

The N.A.P you use on the citation sites has to be exactly what you list on your Google Maps listing…

And you also want to put your N.A.P on the footer of your website…

This way Google can tie your Maps listing to your citations and back to your website…

The extra little boost your SEO will get from this is on each of these citation sites, you’ll also be able to put your website url…

Do you know what this means??

Each citation you get with your website url will be a backlink to your website…

And backlinks are what you need to boost your local SEO…

Who doesn’t love free backlinks??

Anyway…

This process of optimising your Google Maps listing, directly helps with your website SEO…

And if that isn’t enough to get you excited…

Google Maps gives you the option to choose a website to link your listing to…

If you link it with your business website, this will automatically help with SEO…

This is a backlink from Google itself…

But a word of warning…

You need to make sure you optimise your website properly to match your Google Maps listing or you can tank the whole kit and kaboodle…

This is how you do it…

Do you see how Google Maps gives you an option to list your services?

Yeah well, the best way to rank for those services is to create a separate page for each service on your website…

You heard me…

A separate page for each service!

So if you offer interior painting and exterior painting, you’d create a separate page for each on your website…

And because it’s local, you’ll also want to set up location pages for each service as well…

You’ll need to create content on those pages for SEO and then link them back over to your Google Maps Listing…

When your website and Maps listing are giving the same information, Google will trust that you’re a real business…

Without that trust, Google will never show you in the Maps listings or the local search…

So the trust you build by being consistent between your Google Maps and your local business website will definitely help with SEO…

But here’s the thing…

Just Because Your Website is Ranking Well With SEO, Doesn’t Mean it Will Help You Rank in Google Maps…

Google Maps and SEO are two completely different beasts…

One can rank while the other can tank…

The reason is…

No matter what you do to your Google Maps listing…

If you’re not local, you won’t rank…

When someone searches for a local business, Google wants to deliver local results…

That’s why Google maps is very much driven by location…

Location of the person searching and the location of the businesses that show in the maps listing…

Where you can tweak and optimise your website to show in local suburbs that you aren’t located in, the maps are completely different…

So while, your local SEO can help rank your Google Maps listing, if you are located too far from an area you’re trying to rank you’ll never show up…

The location of your business does more to affect your map rankings than your website does…

So my friend, if you really want to show up in the Maps listings, maybe consider getting an office in that location…

Just something to keep in mind…

Well, that’s about it for me…

Google maps will definitely help with SEO but just because one ranks, doesn’t mean the other will…

What you do to one will help with both…

So go forth and rank higher on Google Maps and see how your SEO climbed up as well…

Peace,

Jace…

Landscaping Keywords like “landscape designer” get 165,000 searches each month…

A keyword like “landscape gardener” brings 60,500 per month…

Dang! Can you imagine what it would be like if you could get your landscaping business ranking at the top of Google for landscaping keywords like this…

Over 200 thousand customers each month calling you business…

You’ll be rich!!

Here’s the thing…

High Volume Landscaping Keywords like “Landscape Designer” bring in no money!!

Yep, it’s true…

Think about it…

These types of keywords are too general and can be used by searches on the other side of the country…

Someone 2 hours away from your local area can use that search term and your website will show up…

Two things happen from here…

  1. They see you’re not local and they never call you

Or worse…

  1. They call you…

Imagine 3000 people who all live too far from you, calling you for a landscaping quote…

You’ll never get any work done trying to answer all the waste-of-time-calls that keep coming in…

These types of Landscaping keywords only attract people you can’t do work for…

But if you hire an SEO agency to rank your website, these are exactly the keywords they’ll try to rank you for…

Have a look at the other articles written on this topic…

They all say to target these useless keywords like “Garden landscape” because it get 8500 searches per month…

And the reason is…

These keywords make the SEO agency look good because your search volume goes up…

But you don’t get any more work…

All you get is a website that shows up for useless landscaping keywords that don’t bring in any money…

But, I’m not trying to attack the SEO agencies here…

They’re not deliberately giving you bad advice…

The truth is, ranking websites is what they do…

Their job is to get your business to rank at the top of Google…

And that’s what they do…

But they’ve never run a local business themselves…

They’ve never experienced trying to run a Landscaping business with no money coming in…

They’ve never had to deal with the hundreds of calls that come in for customers who will never hire you…

And it’s become the standard that landscapers must travel all over the country if they want to work…

It doesn’t have to be this way…

I’ve built up 3 local trade businesses and I never travel more than 25 minutes from my home…

My phone rings off the hook with more clients than I can handle because I targeted the right keywords…

If you could work 25 minutes from home and make more money than you could ever imagine, would you travel 2 hours for work?

I didn’t think so…

Well, you don’t have to as long as you target the right Landscaping Keywords…

Target “Money Making” Landscaping Keywords, not “High Volume” Dead-End Keywords…

If you think about it logically, when people search for a Landscaper, the first thing they look for is if you’re local…

And it’s not because they want to support local businesses…

It’s because they booked a landscaper to come out and he never showed up…

The landscaper picked up a job closer to home so he doesn’t want to travel 2 hours out anymore…

Now the customer really wants a local guy to increase the chances that you’ll actually show up…

Plus if something goes wrong, the Landscaper on the other side of town will never come back to fix it…

The customers know it’ll be almost impossible to get them back, so the first thing they look for is if you’re local…

A customer like this doesn’t search for a “landscape designer”…

Nope, they search for a “landscape designer bentleigh”…

The funny thing is…

When you target the ‘Money Making’ landscaping keywords like “landscaper melbourne” you’ll also rank for the keyword “landscaper” when someone in Melbourne searches for this term…

That’s why you should only ever…

Target suburbs, not services…

This is where the money is when looking for landscaping keywords…

Any landscaping service with a suburb after it is a great keyword to target…

For example…

Landscaping Melbourne…

Retaining walls brighton…

Hydroseeding Melbourne…

Landscape design mornington peninsula…

I think you get the point…

These landscaping keywords are low volume but the people using them are great customers…

How to use these Local Landscaping Keywords to grow your business…

Well, here’s what you want to do…

  1. Create a list of all the different landscaping services you offer…
  2. List all of the suburbs you want to offer each service in…
  3. Then create a separate suburb page for each service you offer

It looks like this…

Landscape design Melbourne

Landscape design Hampton

Landscape design Brighton

Hydroseeding Melbourne

Hydroseeding Hampton

Hydroseeding Brighton

Retaining walls Melbourne

Retaining walls Hampton

Retaining walls Brighton

You need a different page for each service you offer and in each suburb you offer that service in…

But don’t get lazy and try to cheat …

Some companies create one page for each service, copy that page and just change out the suburb…

Don’t do this…

You need to create unique content for each page…

That’s how I’ve managed to rank above the big competitors in my area…

My website is not as strong as theirs but my content is unique and more helpful…

And the customers love it…

That’s how you win in the keyword game…

Now with all that said…

I’m gonna throw a spanner in the works and tell you that to rank your website for your local service and suburb keywords, you’ll need to rank this other type of keyword first…

And these are called…

Long Tail Landscaping Keywords…

These keywords are questions that customers ask about all types of landscaping…

For example…

“When is the best time to lay lawn seed?”

A landscaping keyphrase like this will not bring you any customers…

And usually it’ll only bring you a few website clicks a month…

But the reason you want to rank for these keyword phrases is because they are “relevant” to landscaping..

And when you rank for these easy landscaping keywords, Google will see you as a landscaping expert and it’ll boost your local service pages to the top of the local search…

And the more of these long tail keywords you rank for, the quicker your money making service pages will rank…

This speeds up the time it takes your website to rank

You can build out a new landscaping page in a completely new suburb you want to take over and Google will rank you in the top 3 positions in a matter of days…

So it’s really important that you start creating content for these low search volume keyword phrases and answer the question that people have about landscaping…

But before you go off and start answering questions, let me show you how to find these landscaping keywords so you don’t waste time writing articles that never rank…

How to Find Low Search Volume Keyword Phrases…

Head on over to Google Keyword Planner and type in a phrase like “How often to water my lawn”…

This is the result…

Great Landscaping Keywords
Great Landscaping Keywords

You can see that it gets 30 searches a month and the competition is low…

This is a great keyword to go after…

Write a 200 to 500 word article answering the question and you’ll be good to go…

But we don’t stop there…

Did you notice that Google suggested some similar keywords?

This was one of them…

“how much should i water my lawn”

This can be a sub topic in the same article…

Or it could be its own 500 word article…

Make sense?

Then when you set up a local service page for your lawn care service, Google sees you as an authority on lawn care…

And guess what happens next??

That’s right…

Google ranks you at the top for your money making landscaping keywords…

And that my friend, is how you get more work than you can handle…

I have something that will make it so much easier…

If you need any help with finding the right keywords to go after or if you need help getting your website to rank for these keywords, maybe I can help…

I have a service that helps landscaping business owners to get more customers…

We all know that the holy grail of getting customers is to show up on Google when they come searching for your service…

The problem is that it’s getting a little squishy at the top…

There’s no breathing room up there…

Because there’s so much money to be made for a local service business when they rank at the top of Google, it’s almost impossible to get your business listed up there…

The big guys are just too hard to knock off…

Well actually…

It’s not as hard as you think…

I’ve done this In 3 different industries…

And in multiple different suburbs…

I managed to do it with this 200 words a week Strategy…

If I can do it, you can too…

I’m a plumber who stumbled into marketing my business 200 words at a time…

This is what it’s all about…

Introducing the 200 Words a Week, Google Local Ranking Strategy

First off…

To get this strategy to work, you need to realise that you are in the business of marketing the service you provide…

You are not in the business of providing the service…

That’s the first thing…

With that said, your main goal as a local service business owner is to get your business in front of the people who need your service…

And for a local trade business, the best place to get in front of your customers is definitely Google…

When customers want your service, Google is the place they go to find you…

So you need to be sitting at the top of the search ranking when they come looking…

Right??

That’s where This Marketing Strategy comes into play…

It’s actually pretty simple…

It is 3 easy steps that you repeat for 1 hour each week…

Let me explain…

  1. Find the questions that people ask related to your service…
  1. You answer them with 200 to 500 words…
  1. Then you’ll post it on your website…

Ummm…

That’s it dude…

Ok, there’s a little more to it but that’s essentially what it is…

The great news is, I said 500 but you only need 200 words per day to make this work…

The words compound and get more powerful on Google as you consistently add to them…

This is how you gain Google’s trust so they will rank your website and put you in front of local customers…

The fact that you show up on Google, it’s a real boost to gain your customers’ trust…

It really is that powerful…

Think about this…

If your customer has a leaking shower base and all the problems that come with it…

They have damaged plasterboard in the room behind…

The skirting boards are all buckled up…

And the carpet is starting to go mouldy…

It’s black mould too so now they’re freaking out…

But they’re also really worried that it is going to cost them a fortune so they desperately need someone they can trust…

Now they go hunting on Google for “Why is my shower base leaking” and they get your competitors showing up with…

“Shower Base Repair”, “We repair showers”…

That’s ok..

It’s what they’re looking for but then they see your listing…

“The 3 most common reasons why your shower base is leaking and how to fix them”…

That customer is clicking on your page right away…

Once they read your article, they’ll see how much experience and knowledge you have…

They’ll now be aware of how little they know and you’ll be the only person they trust…

Give them a minute, they’ll be calling you real soon…

Now rinse and repeat this every day…

5 articles a week equals 280 in one year…

That’s 280 little salespeople out there selling you as the expert to your customers searching for your service…

How about if you start with one article a week?

That’s 52 reasons why Google will show your website…

If you did this for one year, your business would spread far beyond your local suburbs…

You can slowly spread across the state…

Even the country if you wanted to…

Or you can just focus on a 20 mile radius around your business and be completely untouchable…

There’s no business out there that could infiltrate your kingdom…

You’ve already taken over…

And trust me when I say…

There is no business who has already done this…

Na, not even that huge national company who currently dominates Google in your local area…

They are the most powerful player in the area but they aren’t “hyper local” focused like you are…

And they aren’t as consistent as you…

Your small local presence is more relevant to Google but you just have to show them…

200 words at a time…

Do this for 3 months and see how much you dominate your local area…

My friend, you can do this…

You don’t have to be a great writer…

All you need to know is the answers to the questions people ask…

And because you’re a (Fill in the blank)…

You already know the answers…

It’s that simple…

The more you do it, the easier it will be…

You’ll get better at answering their questions and it’ll take you half the time…

You’ll probably find that you love it more than working on the tools…

That’s exactly what happened to me…

That’s why I’m here now telling you about it…

Now I know this can be hard if you’re not used to writing so I‘ve got something that could help you out…

I’ve got something that could help you…
